Yep, point being though Matt, is the fella up above is claiming it's wrong for the fans.

But really it's just the ones he knows and himself - personally I couldn't give a flying fuck where we play, as long as we are successful.

Which is the point that gets lost amongst the emotion.

We'll still sing the same songs wherever we are. The same way that City still sing "We Are City From Maine Road". We'll still be as passionate about those who wear the shirt.

It's a natural reaction to shy away from change. I just thought taking a rational/logical view of it, moving to Stratford's pros outweighed its cons.

Fair enough.

Safe to say that if we can't even agree amongst ourselves on something like whether Gomes is shit or not, there's no way in hell we'll all agree on whether moving to Stratford is right ot wrong, so anyone on either side of the debate saying things like "it is right / wrong for the fans" is on shaky ground.

Any 'planned' overspend comes out of the contingency budget. A properly managed project should cost exactly what it's predicted to cost within the agreed variation. On a small project you might have it as 5%, 10% is more usual going as high as 15% if you've got a lot of unknowns.

I suspect the reason the NDP became less viable when Stratford arrived was most likely on account of our failure thus far to find a corporate partner for the project. Note the still ambiguous 'Naming Rights'. I would guess that corporate partners are unwilling to invest in a project so far from central London with such poor transport links. Which was clearly the opposite of what happened with Stratford as AEG were in there right away. You also have to remember that interest rates are set to rise over the next few years and that increases the burden of debt. You'll want to watch your mortgage rates too by the way.

Oh, and I'm 29.

1) He said 90%.

2) And yes I can - because if you decipher all the bullshit, you'll see it's all a money-grabbing exercise by various Athletics' associations. And fair enough to them, they can get their share. But don't be mistaken by their claim that retaining a running track is all about the "legacy" of British sport - a stadium not maketh a legacy. Sorry. That's just plain common sense pal.

1) He said 99% - “I have loads of Tottenham fans as friends and I am confident that I will get the support of 99% of those fans."

2) I was referring to those who want to stay in Tottenham, not the Olympic legacy, couldn't give two fucks what they do to that stadium after the games, they can turn it into a hooligan UFC style cage and have firms do battle in there for all I care, as long as we don't move there.

Fair play to Levy for sticking to his guns. I'm sure if we had agreed to keep the running track then we would have probably won the bid, but he would not compromise on the quality of the stadium, which blows the "Levys only in it for the money" argument out of the water.
If WetSpam are so desperate for the new stadium at any cost, they are welcome to it. A half empty stadium, with a running track round it will not be a viable legacy for anyone. I can see this decision coming back to haunt the taxpayer for many years to come.

If West Ham get it the Athletics track will be gone in 5 years. Guaranteed.

I agree it will be gone - as it will be proved to be not viable.

Also I'm a ST holder and is/was happy to move to Stratford.

Whilst we are concerned to read that there appears to have been a leak of information from the OPLC about what their recommendation and decision may be, we regard it as premature to make any comment at this stage.

Really? You don't look a day over 40.

As for the naming rights, realistically no company would ever commit to it until it got planning permission.

This was never an issue for the OS, because it was guaranteed that if we were awarded it, we'd get planning permission. Hence why AEG could commit early.

By the time we got planning permission for the NDP, it was common knowledge that we were looking at the OS.

For the record, the naming rights for Ashburton Grove were not announced until construction had actually commenced.

I'm one of those generally gutted but secretly pleased because I'm confident the decision will turn out to be an unmitigated disaster for both UK Athletics and West Ham.

And hopefully Newham Council as well, the sly bastards. I assume, in their agreement to lend West Ham £80m of public money, that they have a contingency in the agreement wherein if West Ham default on their payments, the stadium goes to the council (at which point the club will be forced to rent it) - thus the council can't lose.

I'm convinced this is the only reason they have been so behind Wst Ham's bid - the club's financial weakness means the council wins one way or the other, and the last thing they wanted was a financially-independent, no-public-money-required private bidder like Spurs moving in.

Which is why we'll sue in my view. They can't be awarded a 150 year lease on a public asset on the basis of having a running track then ditch the running track 5 years later.

You are indeed right buddy :)

For the record I think Gomes is more than good enough!

Also, probably to add, that I live down in Hampshire, and whilst I know a lot of season ticket holders (well I say a lot, but it's probably around 20 people that I know who are ST holders), it would be easier to get to Stratford - hence the selfish comment I made.

Probably has some relevance somewhere!!!

Lets not forget many fans travel the length ot the country to watch their beloved Tottenham Hotspur. I for one would not mind moving to Stratford simply for the ease of access issue. Im sick of travelling 350 miles or (700 mile round journey) and then getting stuck in traffic for 2 hours. I would watch Tottenham if they played in Timbuktoo, and to me they would always be known as the world famous Tottenham Hotspur.

Surely you should just move closer to London then

Joking aside, I think a lot has been made of the transport thing and yet coming out of Wembley you are still stuck outside the tube station for 20 minutes, crawling along.

When you throw in the largest urban shopping centre into the mix, I doubt the system will cope. Will be interesting to see next year when the Olympics happens, but I predict chaos.
