I know this sounds very football manager esq but if you think we draw up a list of 2-3 targets and then work down them 1 at a time going 1st choice 2nd and then 3rd then you're mistaken.

We honestly put out so many feelers and enquires its unreal, you have to. Harry himself has confirmed we have made offers for Rossi, vucinic, adebayor, mata, parker

Plus there will be a whole host of enquiries behind the scenes.

Why do we have to though mate? This has been going on for the best part of 18-24 months. Surely Levy understands by now who is attainable and who isn't?

Or maybe we are just in such a delicate situation atm. Players recognize us, but we are only on the periphery of their vision. Until all other obstacles have been removed (interest from bigger clubs in this analogy) then they refuse to give us their full attention.

Maybe that is what is happening with our targets now. We could easily go for a striker, like Carlton Cole, who would give us his full and undivided attention, but that wouldn't work either.

I guess, as The Count of Monte Cristo once said, we'll just have to ‘wait and hope’.

I was suprised that certain deals have gone through cheap because agents are trying to engineer big money moves. So you have answered that yourself. Why did they go through cheap? i dont know; thats why i was suprised.

I always state what is fact an opinion but maybe because i myself spent 6 years coaching for numerous professional teams at youth level, spent a few years playing lower league and semi pro football, have a good catologue of friends that play in leagues from Premiership down to non league (that mods know about and are not my main source) and have been around football for longer than most; i believe my opinions are pretty valid and strong.

I havent tried to fob anybody off and will answer anything you want.

How soon TJ do you think it will be before the Huntelaar deal comes through, are we looking at days, weeks or transfer deadline day

I really dont buy that arguement. You dont leave both those clubs after 1 season if you havent been a failure at those clubs. Even Saviola was given more of a chance. The big guns can get it wrong, they do so all the time. They have the money to take a punt and know a club our level will take a punt if it all goes pear shaped with little loss.

Having said all that he might work, he is a limited player but one which if used right might be usefull

I can see what you're saying, C0YS, but it would appear he was bought in as a first team striker at both clubs. This to me means that a lot of pressure was put on him, and if it was just a punt he wouldn't have got nearly as many games as he did. I'm not saying his time at either club was a success, not at all. But both clubs were willing to put a lot of faith in him, so they must have seen something.

Ahh, it was in Euros, so it wasn't quite as extreme. A lot of money though, nonetheless.

I have said since TJ's first piece of ITK regarding Huntelaar that I would take him, but for nothing more than about £12m. I think that's a fair price for a fairly talented striker, considering his hit-and-miss career.

Its a very difficult one mate. We are right on the peripheral right now. Not a big club but not a small club, we're right in the middle.

Teams like say villa for e.g (No offense to them) couldnt not get near a player like Rossi for e.g no chance in hell so they draw up a list and there targets are nzogbia etc realistic targets who will sign. They may only ake 2 or 3 enquiries.

Big big teams are massive clubs and can openly say Torres is out taregt etc and go hell for leather for him. If it doest worl then look elsewhere.

We are in the limbo of the 2. Not big enough to declare out right Tevez is our main target etc etcbut too big to sign Zomora for e.g

Does that make any sense at all???

Apparently Schalke paid 12M Euros for Huntelaar so why would we pay even £12M when he's had a poor season in Germany by any stretch of the imagination?

2 years ago everyone was creaming themselves over signing huntelaar. It's ridiculous that almost everyone thinks he's not good enough for us now.

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Sorry missed this bit. You are exactly right.

I have no doubt we would have signed Mirko Vucinic had it not been for Juventus coming in with a late proposal.

And again it was a tricky one as we would have joined, but we were always the plan B if you like as ideally he wanted to stay in Italy.

Yes it makes sense. It is frustrating but it is a big improvement on when we used to dream that Aimar or Diego would come in and transform us into contenders over night.

At least now we have a squad of excellent players, a burgeoning, slowly burgeoning I might add, reputation in Europe and we just need one or two players to complete the picture.

The trouble is we were in this position last season and didn't remedy it, we need to act now or else risk losing much of what we’ve worked for. To see us go back to being a Villa or Everton again would be too painful.

Your thoughts between Pav and huntelaar...I think both same categories.
We get huntelaar and IMHO is BIG upgrade...
If that's Levy Marquee signing then we now have to question Levy.
I still believe Adebayor is a do-able deal and would be better for us.

you are right in a way, enquiries go out to a whole load of players and agents...The top targets are first out of those to get the heavy stuff. if they sign for someone else ie cardoza, Augero etc we move on to the next one, who has already been spoken to about a move earlier on. theres no point taking a lesser striker if the top target on your list is still available. thats why a lot of clubs sort themselves out at the end of the window. they get jittery waiting for A and B and bite the bullet and rush though C (or J in our case )

Rob have you seen him recently or last season???

Sadly its like me saying Keano was great 2 years ago we all wanted him back.

IMO the shocking spells at madrid and Milan just completely blew his confidence away and he just looks a shawo of the former ajax player who was deadly in the box.

I would acrtually rather keep the guys we have than gamble 12 mill or whatever it would be on him.

The only way Adebayor will happen is if Madrid just never make a move for him.

The way Mourinho was speaking about him yesterday i fully expect them to sign him at the end of the window as they know city will want rid and will accept a minimal offer from Madrid.

I really do think we could end up with Benzema on loan.

Would you take Torres now?

Same type of situation, had a crap season but he hasn't magically lost his ability, just his confidence.

As for what we currently have: Defoe never had the ability to start with, he just shifts it and blasts it with no brain. Crouch wouldn't even be a footballer if he was 6ft. Keane's legs have gone.

Pav >>>>>> Huntelaar

you cant live off past hype your whole career, and we are definitely not in a situation where we can 'take a chance' on a new striker like Huntelaar

Diarra deal is most likely being held up untill we sell players because we got no cash...Harry's said it himself, that we need to sell before we buy. Just makes you wonder where all our cash from CL went....im thinking lawyers for a certain stadium in east london

At least we've still got 'Smiling Pav'.

Ironic crowd favourites were faintly amusing when we were shit but they really don't become us now.
