Watched him against mexico today and I though as a RW he is very one dimensional, he just always tried to cut in so he could blast the ball towards goal, I say towards because he didn't aim at all

He gots a powerful shot and strong on the ball other than that I'm not too sure, I think he would operate better as a striker but I have to say very underwhelming performance by him, I know Dan got laughed for saying gio is better than hulk, but Gio seemed to cause more problems to a stronger defence and midfield

Also if he did go to chelsea I would try to sign Sturridge because they look exactly the same type of player and if anything by todays showing Sturridge is less greedy

maybe he's waiting to see where AvB ends up? ;) just kidding. seems we aren't the only ones waiting on a transfer that is said to be a for sure thing.

International football is not always the best format to judge a player. He is clearly very well suited physically to certain roles. Maybe he was being asked to cut in and shoot?
His stats were incredible (arf arf ) the season that AVB was with him. I don't know if he was so impressive last year?

Hugely over rated if the reported fee is correct. Not worth any more than £20m give what he has shown so far.

The only real bona fide world class player to have worn the Porto shirt in recent years is Falcao. Supreme striker, possibly the best in the world right now.

We'll not gamble more than £15m in this climate (i.e. no CL). At least the one positive with HR gone is that we're not going to try and sign Robbie Keane or Berbatov again because they are 'top top quality strikers'. Other than signing VdV (more a Levy find), Kaboul and Parker I have been quite underwhelmed by HR's 4 year transfer market forays.

I understand what you are getting at but there were times where a teammate was free next to him to be one on one with the GK and he still shot it as hard as he can over the bar

New Spurs boss AVB keen to beat former club Chelsea to Porto hitman Hulk

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is lining up a move for Porto's exciting striker Hulk.

The Brazilian arrived in London on Tuesday night as part of the Olympic team contingent who are due to face Great Britain on Friday.

Villas-Boas, who coached the player during his tenure at Porto, wants him to be his marquee signing at White Hart Lane and has been given the go-ahead to initiate talks.

The powerful 25-year-old was widely expected to join Chelsea this summer with Porto holding out for £38million but Tottenham hope to convince him with the prospect of more regular first team football and negotiate a drop in the fee with Porto.

Hulk wants wages of around £100,000 a week but Tottenham have had to broker a similar pay deal for Emmanuel Adebayor. Manchester City and Chelsea will monitor developments though.

Tottenham maintain an interest in Internacional's Leandro Damiao and are due to watch Fluminense midfielder Wellington Nem and teammate Manuel Lanzini this week.

Meanwhile, new signing Jan Vertonghen believes Tottenham can push for the Premier League title this season.

The north Londoners were amongst the chasing pack last term before a loss of form towards the end of the campaign saw them finish fourth.

'I am delighted to be here,' Veronghen told Spurs TV. 'Over the last years Spurs have become a very big club in England.

'They finished in the top four a few times and for me it was one of the best clubs in the Premier League and that is one of the reasons I wanted to come here.

'There is a lot of quality and I think everybody wants to make a good season. 'Last year in the first six or seven months, they were up there for the title, the championship.

'After that it was not that well, but this year I think we will compete a few more months longer.'

Can't see that. Us paying £38m for anyone seems way beyond the realms of reality and if we did we'd probably find better value for money elsewhere. I think people have gone way over board about his lack of touch and his one dimensionality. Whilst he isn't the most elegant of players he certainly does bring power and directness and would probably flourish in our side.

Let's face it, if Chelsea havre struggled to agree a fee with Porto, what chance do we have?

Love the bit about us hoping to "negotiate a drop in the fee with Porto." Comedy writing.

Just catching up whilst Hulk is over for the Olympics I would imagine. If Lloris is too expensive for us then Hulk is a non starter imho.

Whilst I doubt we would pay what Porto want for Hulk, just because we feel that the price Lyon are asking for Lloris is not good value doesn't mean we won't pay over £20m for the right player. It is all about value for money to Levy.

AVB talking to Hulk in a St Albans hotel last night (posted on Twitter by a Liverpool fan this morning).

Doesn't necessarily mean anything as obviously AVB knows Hulk from their time together at Porto, but does prove he was there.
