Deal is not dead at all.

Valencia want to maximise the deal, and are looking for, in their eyes a littel more in the cash part. Our offer is close enough that an agreement will be made.

Soldado has agreed terms in principle and when the agreement is made between clubs (expected to be this aftrenoon tomorrow morning) the rest will move quickly.

This Madrid Spur, is he any good?

I believe in Levy getting the best deal here. Everyone knows about Valencia's dire financial situation, everyone knows they want to maximise the sale of Soldado and everyone knows that doesn't fly when everyone knows your business.

L'Equipe saying we've contacted Lyon to ask terms for Gomis. Getting on a train to Desperateville via Panic Central.

hmm so Levy is going to deal with the man that said this about him?

"The negotiation with the Tottenham directors has been the hardest I have ever had to undergo in these 25 years.
"We had email exchanges which have been contradicted, so that's made it very complicated. It's difficult. The Tottenham board's theory is to explain that the economic market is very hard and so we have to get used to renegotiating.
"But for us, who are attached to a player of the quality of Hugo Lloris, and such is the value of the transfer, that causes us to ask questions.
"He has agreed personal terms with Tottenham, he remains under that impression, but since we have had Hugo Lloris on the telephone for a long time overnight and this morning and he's completely undecided about what happens next.
"We've been negotiating all night. The first negotiation was at the start of the window, about a month-and-a-half ago, through an intermediary who was a French lawyer, who lives in Lyon.

Yeah agree... if we are playing hadball over our original offer and not upping it (maybe even because they have confirmed a new striker), then fine... why should we!? In business you do have to be hard and even ruthless....

BUT If we lowered our offer (and I am not sure I believe we did), then I would be pissed, as that is the kinda thing that blows your chances of signing not just that player, but others too. Word spreads, DL is already knows as a hard negotiator and will undoubtedly have people immediately going on the defensive before we even start. Hard but fair is fine, Hard turning into ruthless dick is NOT.

To be honest I don't believe it, I think the rumour has come about due to us not upping an offer.
Maybe so but it's a Levy-esque move.

Thing Levy has to get is there isn't a plethora of top quality strikers available in the market, this is last chance saloon for him... Surely the 4 million if reports are true can be covered by an outgoing.

I would love to believe this but i won't get sucked in again, seen it with Villa & Benteke to know.

Zdravko Mamic said that Jedvaj won't go to Roma because they harassed him and insulted him etc. It was 99% that he won't go there. They screwed up and we almost got him. Money talks, negotiations take time. Only thing is, Jedvaj wasn't priority type signing for Roma while Soldado is for us. I still think we'll get him soon because Valencia will sell him.

Its a little funny how as soon a the deal "broke down" all the noise has come from their end
claiming Spurs moved the goalposts. They're probably just trying to get a better deal.

OH come on now. What happened with Lloris was we offered them a price. They wanted at £3m-£4m more for him. They spent all summer trying to get it and then we signed him for the price we first offered. Show me where we lowered our offer etc? I don't remember one suggestion of that during the Lloris deal.

Look, some people think DL is a complete wanker. Fine by me, I don't know the man personally. Let's not just make shit up though, mkay.

doesn't sound like negotiating to me. Sounds like they've closed any potential deal which means we've pissed them off in some way.

Sorry, but that's just not possible. They are in no position to close any potential deals and they are in no position to let their emotions affect their business.

For me that just says there were a lot of negotiations rather than a straight up bid. Adons etc...

Nothing wrong with that just that the deal is complicated.

It's not just £4m when you're already talking about £20m
