Tottenham are stepping up their interest in Spanish striker Roberto Soldado as chairman Daniel Levy seeks to build a team around Gareth Bale that can challenge for the Premier League title next season.
While Bale is finding out tonight if he has won the PFA Player of the Year award, a delegation from Spurs will be in the Basque city of San Sebastian watching Soldado, 27, play for Valencia against Real Sociedad.

poor man's benzema
He has a much better goal ratio than benzema. benz also plays for a team that creates more and dominates the spanish league. No brainer really. Would he come tho? 28 next month. No resale value. Unless he bangs in 30 goals like van persie.

Agree with the first part of your post about Benzema. Dont think we should always be looking at resale value though, if Soldado can give us 4/5 years of consistent goalscoring, he'd pay that money back.

Soldado is a good goalscorer but for me Negredo is the more complete striker yet still with a very similar goals record so out of the two I'd want him especially as it appears he could prove cheaper. Both clubs need cash so are likely to listen to offers this summer, but Valencia have been handling their debt problem for a few years and so are a bit more experienced in how to best maximise their assets

That said I don't see Levy offering anything like £20 mill for Soldado who will be 28 next month and he has seemingly not been keen on trying to tie up Negredo at a supposedly cheaper fee

I think it's going to be another summer of Levy under bidding for Leandro hoping they'll accept less than they want or maybe a cheap bid for Aubameyang, both are still young enough for Levy to believe he could sell at a profit and so look more like Levy targets

I agree, while Negredo is not a master at one thing he is a real solid player in general, good on the ball, passes well, finds space, can hold it up, good finisher, i would say his best attribute is in the air, certainly think his style would suit the english game and our team really well.

He scored against Sociedad tonight, but overall not a very good game from him.
Meanwhile, Banega is in good form, constantly looking for an opportunity, he covers a lot of ground, he's making good passes.
