He seems to have scored more free kicks then spurs have in the same time period!

Just want to clarify something, because I remember some people saying that Eriksen only had 5 assists last season for Ajax or something like that.

The correct stats are that he played 46 games for Ajax in all competitions, and scored 13 goals and 23 assists. In the Eredivisie he had 10 goals and 17 assists in 33 matches, and a goal or assist every 107 minutes on average.

So just looking at our attacking players, Soldado had 33 goals, 6 assists in all comps; Eriksen had 13 goals 23 assists in all Ajax games, Lamela had 15 goals, 6 assists in 37 games, Lennon had 4 goals and 11 assists, which is 65 goals and 46 assists from 4 of our attacking players last season. So any of you who are still moaning about our team and transfer window just think about the fact that we haven't seen anything close to our best team just yet.

I was chatting to Rick Villa (the SC poster, not the ex-Spur) about Eriksen the other day. RV for those who haven't met him is a Danish giant! Anyway he sounds fairly cautious about the excitement over Eriksen, and pointed out that he's still very young and learning.

I'm going to keep that in mind, and I hope others do too. I guess the same could said about Lamela as well. Very excited about both players, but we're not expecting too much too soon.
As I believe I've pointed out before on this forum I'm not so sure that Christian Eriksen has what it takes to break through at the highest level.
He is a great great talent, but have had problems with disappearing in the matches. HOWEVER this could all relate to the fact that he is only 21 years old (something I think us Danes kinda often forgets, since he has be named as the biggest danish football talent since M.Laudrup).

I sincerely hope that he will hit the ground running as he might as well could prove to be the next big thing - He does have the talent to do so.
Very fair post and I agree with most of it and about him disappearing in most matches, last season he was brilliant at the end of the season and kind of shunned this criticism as he was controlling matches.

As for him coming here I think he is coming here with a chip on the shoulder as he has been the last toy left on the shelf tbh. Dortmund, Liverpool, AC and etc. all seemed to be interested but instead went for other targets even we did with Willian, this make him want to prove a point and be the making of him imo

I think you have got the wrong end of the stick in terms of what he said. When he said there were very few options I think he meant that in terms of clubs he was willing to go to. There was a queue around the proverbial block for him, he just wasn't interested in most moves.

Very much this. From what I heard him say to danish media it was very much about there only being very few clubs he would consider going to, despite plenty of opportunities.

I can't believe some of you are suggesting we have finally found our set piece taker.

Look at Bentley, Sigurdsson etc. hell even VDV! Everyone knows that once a player gets a Spurs shirt on they cannot beat the first man. :barefoot:

The only problem with starting all three is it will shunt Eriksen out the left and I really would prefer him in a classic no.10 position. Agree though that Holtby could be a key player this season.
Not if we play 4 2 3 1

Rubbish. Hudd regularly beat the first man. It's just that he usually beat the stand and the car park as well.

Tekkers.

It will be 4-2-3-1 on paper but more often than not the two outside players in the 3 will end up out wide and I think Eriksen is a bit wasted there.

Nice options to have though.

Get what you're saying about the wide forwards dropping back into winger roles, but hopefully if it's done right they won't have to as the full backs with push high.

AVB plays high up the pitch. With 2 anchoring centre mids the full backs will have cover to go forward. The 2 wide men cut inside onto their preferred feet and assist the central attacking mid with dictating play and finding opportunities for the striker.

Think of how Brazil have been working lately, that kind of system. It's very aggressive and can be risky but when attacking you have a multitude of options behind the striker - the full backs and the 3 attacking mids, plus maybe one of the centre mids making late runs (Paulinho's strength). It does mean though that the defence have to be able to get back quick as opposition will look to counter.
