Many clubs did go in for him, he simply turned them down. He wanted to join a club that would be best for his career, by providing him with a top league and the ability to feature frequently. I doubt many top clubs need him more than us, it seems to be the perfect fit.

Exactly! He turned down Man City last summer so it's pretty clear that he wants to progress as a player rather than just make a fat stack of cash.

Maybe in the premiership, but can't imagine many teams across Europe have a better no10 than this guy

Eriksen isn't strictly a no10, he's a creative player who can operate in a midfield 3 as well. If we're talking about creative players then I really can't think of any other top team around Europe who has a need for him.

Dortmund and Liverpool were interested but Dortmund bought Henrik and we probably scared Liverpool off :D

There were some teams in Russia I believe but he didn't want to move there either.

I think there was also news to the effect that he wanted another year at Ajax to develop, which is sensible. How many times have bright young things had a big move too early and then burned out?

I think there's been some uncertainties over him, as he he's perceived to drift in and out of games. But you're right that he's worth the punt at that price. Weighing it up, I don't mind particularly if he's anonymous for 89 minutes as long as he can thread through a good pass for an assist, or whip in a free kick. I think he might end up being the nearest thing we have to a luxury player.

It's a good point actually, not only does he bring creativity from open play, but heard he's awesome at free kicks / corners. A gap in our game now that Bale has moved on with the Free kicks and will add to the team for the corners, as we are SHOCKING at them!

He didn't want to go apparently, had a choice and chose QPR which isn't surprising really as he gets to stay in london and knows 'arry and visa versa and knows he's likely to get consistent games.

in the future he may have wished he played for a big team in the champions league, would've have collected a winners medal most likely too, though i guess he may get a championship medal yet

I'm still struggling to believe why no one else went in and bought this guy? Anyone have any logical ideas? Especially considering the price!

think he turned town a couple of other clubs about a year ago (germany?). in the premiership all clubs above us have 'better' players in the same position and naturally didn't feel the need i would think. only other club on our level showing interest was liverpool

According to the man himself, he turned down PSG and a higher wage just before he signed for us. PSG was trying to do a Chelsea.

If we can get him, Holtby and Lamela into our starting lineup any issues with creativity will evaporate.

I was chatting to Rick Villa (the SC poster, not the ex-Spur) about Eriksen the other day. RV for those who haven't met him is a Danish giant! Anyway he sounds fairly cautious about the excitement over Eriksen, and pointed out that he's still very young and learning.

I'm going to keep that in mind, and I hope others do too. I guess the same could said about Lamela as well. Very excited about both players, but we're not expecting too much too soon.

I think that's a fair point. They are young, but Eriksen has a lot of experience already. For a 21 year old its quite staggering really. Look at the amount of experience he's had in the CL. Watching him against City last season, against the Champions, he looked very mature for his age in terms of the way he was playing. He gave them the run around for large parts of those two games.

I expect him to adapt quickly, but that doesn't mean we should demand it.

We need him to be great this season if we are to finish in top 4. We have seen that Soldado isn't effective without delivery. I hope he can do that or we will have problem scoring.
Thing is this problem we have had scoring this season could be seen last season when we couldn't score goals and then out of nowhere Bale would score from outside the box.

The only problem with starting all three is it will shunt Eriksen out the left and I really would prefer him in a classic no.10 position. Agree though that Holtby could be a key player this season.

Have a midfield trio of Paulinho Holtby and Eriksen ... thats our most goal scoring lot out of the bunch.

As I believe I've pointed out before on this forum I'm not so sure that Christian Eriksen has what it takes to break through at the highest level.
He is a great great talent, but have had problems with disappearing in the matches. HOWEVER this could all relate to the fact that he is only 21 years old (something I think us Danes kinda often forgets, since he has be named as the biggest danish football talent since M.Laudrup).

I sincerely hope that he will hit the ground running as he might as well could prove to be the next big thing - He does have the talent to do so.
