From BBC Sport:

Stoke manager Mark Hughes:
"I feel a bit aggrieved. I felt we had a good claim for a penalty before Tottenham's penalty.

"In terms of having an impact on the game, we found it difficult.

"They have got a lot of power and pace and we struggled to cope with that. There are reasons for that as we are missing key players but we need to do better.

"We struggled to get a foothold in the game. We need to be able to get in behind teams but don't have that option.

"On the day we were not good enough and up to the standard of the Spurs players."

Good resounding win there will be tougher tests ahead but also a bonus coming away with a clean sheet.

It needs to be said, if we still had AVB he would have played Naughton at LB instead of RB and we would have played with one up front, Adebayor would have been nowhere near WHL and we would have huffed and puffed, had 65% possession played at snails pace and created 100% of f*ck all and Naughton would have been turned this way and that and they would have beat us 1-0 or 2-0 with two chances down to one or two of his errors as a result of being played out of position. He's not the best player but he is a competent RB and he showed that today when given the chance,he is a liability at LB and Fryers is and always has been a better back up LB option. Why AVB didn't see that is frankly beyond me.

Paulinho had a really decent game and we did look more threatening, and it made perfect sense replacing him for Capoue when he took a knock and moving Dembele further upfield.

If I was being really picky I would say we missed an opportunity of racking up a 5 or 6 nil to cancel out the negative GD as we missed some decent chances, but I've a feeling more goals will come with Ade and Soldado working together up front.
It is however onwards and upwards.

derp de derp de de derp.

except he wasn't was he? Highest points return in history last season, or am I wrong?
Clinging to stats.
Here's one.
Complete novice Tim Sherwood has done twice in 3 games what avb failed to do in 15 or so prior games - seen his side score 3 goals in one league match.
In 4 games in charge, we've scored goals in all of them. No blanks.

That's a complete novice.

So answer me this. How comes a compete novice has done what a so called tactical genius couldn't do?

Still think we need another striker to convert chances better ade doesn't quite do it for me.
Why Ade? He has scored how many goals in how many starts? He isn't the weak link on his performances so far this season.

However I to would like to see a new and better striker.

back from the game, you can only beat what's in front of you and Stoke were as poor a side as I can remember seeing at WHL, seen better teams in the Europa group stages. That said 3 points is a start but a couple of real tests lie ahead now.

I also want to see a new and better striker but I've always felt since ade has been with us he needs about six chances to score one.

Right, so 2 good crosses and one great goal, after countless times losing the ball and poor final balls.

I say once more, he had a good game, but it was the same old Lennon, okay.

Paulinho... 100% pass completion in the first half, that is what you call passing and making a good impact on the game. That guy had a blinder and I hope that it is just a little knock.
Positionally, movementally (just made that up, love it already), crossing ability...ally, he's bang average.

This guy is a sub.

I really hope tim can see we need lamela as a starter and lennon as an impact sub.
Lamela wasn't bad today, but some of his games have been dire. I think he needs to build on today before he is a starter. Away to Man U may not be the best place to give him a start either. We have two really tough games coming up, these are games for the more experienced I believe.

Still can't let go of the shit attitude of Adebayor for example when Lamela had his shot blocked out for a corner and Adabayor instantly got on his back for not passing to him. That's not gonna give the team mates confidence now will it? Piss poor attitude.
