Clinging to stats.
Here's one.
Complete novice Tim Sherwood has done twice in 3 games what avb failed to do in 15 or so prior games - seen his side score 3 goals in one league match.
In 4 games in charge, we've scored goals in all of them. No blanks.

That's a complete novice.

So answer me this. How comes a compete novice has done what a so called tactical genius couldn't do?

I think you're the only one suggesting AVB is a "tactical genius" which is odd, given your obvious dislike of the guy. In the words of the big man: You've vexed me.

Still can't let go of the shit attitude of Adebayor for example when Lamela had his shot blocked out for a corner and Adabayor instantly got on his back for not passing to him. That's not gonna give the team mates confidence now will it? Piss poor attitude.
I doubt Lamela thinks Adebayor is anything but a johnson. He wont give a shit

Lamela wasn't bad today, but some of his games have been dire. I think he needs to build on today before he is a starter. Away to Man U may not be the best place to give him a start either. We have two really tough games coming up, these are games for the more experienced I believe.

I also want to see a new and better striker but I've always felt since ade has been with us he needs about six chances to score one.
Yes but he has been our best striker so far when he has been allowed to play. It's early days and we know he can blow just as cold as hot. However Ade with a point to prove is a good player.

I am just so very very glad to be watching this kind of football again.

In my opinion, the response to the Sherwood appointment has been totally over the top (actually kind of childish) and today's result and performance suggests some kind of vindication for DL.

Yes it was only Stoke, blah blah blah. We played excellently and rightly demolished them. It should have been more.

A few more games in this mold and the players will get their confidence back and we'll be looking like the side we should be again.

I don't want to denigrate AVB but whatever he was trying to do just wasn't working and I genuinely wasn't enjoying even watching anymore. Even the 1-0 victories felt hollow.

No doubt the next months are going to see some disappointing results but we really owe it to the team to give them a chance to play football again and support them as much as possible. No doubt the knives are still being sharpened for TS despite the immediate impact he's had. I think some of you will not accept him whatever he does.

I for one however will be cheering them on proudly.

Tim Sherwood: "I thought they played well from start to finish. Two goals is never enough. We know what Stoke are about.

"They can hang on, get a scrappy goal and all of a sudden they are back in the game. We didn't allow them to do that. We managed to get the third goal and are pleased with the three points.

"We took some of our chances. A few more went missing. The strikers will score more often than not if they get into those positions, especially the top strikers we have got."

I was very pleased with some of the young boys that came in. It's good start [to my tenure] but we know there are tougher tests ahead."

Mousa Dembele: "It was an important win after the Boxing Day draw against West Brom. Everybody was fighting for each other today."

Well, today was much better. We're far from perfect, but we played well today. Felt good to enjoy a Spurs game again!! Hopefully the doom mongering will rest for a couple of days at least.

Just seen that we're only 2 points behind the 'title challenging' Liverpool and 3 behind Everton who are completely superior to us apparently? Just shows we can still be hopeful of having a decent season and in December the season isn't a complete write off!

Great analysis from them for the last two games.
I think it went something, weve run out of time goodnight.

I forget Chelsea were playing today. And according to my bin-dipper step-dad they should have had a clear-cut pen, so I'm expected at least half an hour on that. The penalty incident I mean. We'll get five minutes as usual, but at least it will be an exciting five minutes.

Very much how Defoe reacted to Lamela too on occasions.

It's very difficult, after a result like today's, to take it seriously when people get hot and bothered at me, just because I sometimes point out, sometimes drily, sometimes with sarcasm, that, basically, a lot of the members here are fuckwits of the first order.

Intemperate, abusive, vicious about our own players and managers without cause, absolutely certain of themselves and with zero justification. Just read back the pre-match thread: the rants about 4-4-2, the blistering rage - before the match - about team selection, the contempt for 2 or 3 individual players who were amongst our best performers today.

I prefer to keep my judgments to myself until after the event. Which I will now compose.

Indeed. Some of the pre-match comments look ridiculous now.
