Just watched the game. Phew another close one, great result then.

Lamela and Soldado really have me scratching my head till its raw and bloody. If they hadn't cost so much I'd wager we would have given up on them already. Every time one of them got the ball I expected them to lose it (which they usually did), especially the former of the 2.

Eriksen and Kane's goals keeping us going. Loved to see Walker back, Lloris still great and good to see Jan show his passion at the end.

Either that or play the way the youth team did when Obika was injured either false 9 or perhaps chadli upfront but that didn't work out great against besiktas

I managed to miss the first 10 minutes, so perhaps he did something useful then, but I failed to see any point in his presence on the pitch afterwards.

lamela cant keep the ball for toffees diabolical display
I kept it better than most.
Don't see you naming the worst offenders, wonder why?
We won the game and Lamela worked his arse off along with Kane up front.
Not great going forward, but no one was.
When the other top teams win ugly it's a wining mentality, when we do It we just slag our players off and say lucky.

There's no denying it was a good result. Maybe it's just me but I'd actually be more encouraged by a point and a good performance, than another poor performance and all three points. It's the absence of signs of improvement that prevents me from being filled with optimism for the future. Keep performing like that and the results will soon reflect it.
I honestly don't think I can lay the blame at Pockys door for how we play. It's almost like AVB is still in charge. I don't know if he has hypnotized our squad. But we are brutally risk averse. The football hasn't changed since he left. Is that down to the personnel still at the club? I'm not sure? But we just don't have any spark. We have effort. By the bag full. But that isn't going to get us into the champs league. We desperately need two worldies. Striker. And a creative midfielder. Modric-esque

I think the switch to 433 had a subtle but effective impact. kane was basically doing his and Soldados job anyway so taking him off and putting on Dembele meant that things were evened up a bit. Took us a while to get adjusted but I thought we looked better especially Chadli and Stambouli came on.
Dembele was further forward and playing off kane when he came on

Kane scored and held the ball up for us and won his headers. Eriksen scored 1 and set up one. Soldado offered nothing. Lamela worked hard and....... Well what else ?

Great three points and some good performances but Lamela let people down today I think, really lucky not to be sent off.
Really thought he was going to click into gear this season but I am still waiting.

I am a patient man but Lamela is struggling to beat a player or find a telling pass. He loses possession too easy for my liking and isn't showing the improvement I was expecting. I would like to see Chadli back in the team.

Poch changed things in the second half and I felt we were the most likely to score in the last 15 minutes. He deserves credit for that. Again I saw pressing from the front which is also a positive.

Our central defence is a huge worry for me. Bony had so much room today, it was so poor to be almost beyond belief. I am at a loss to explain it, I don't know if it's the players or the coaching.

Lots of character shown by the team though and considering the average age of today's team I still have optimism for the season and future.

Can someone give me a quick bullet point run down of the game please?

1. Kane heads in Ericsson corner after 4 minutes. Amazingly spurs scored from a corner and have taken the lead. Can anyone remember when that last happened?
2. The Saints lay siege and pin tottenham in their half for the majority of the game. Siggy, Routledge and Bony seem hell bent on Spurs annihilation.
3. Eventually after another block from Fazio (who had a great game) to deny Bony, he gets a rebound and tucks it away to make it 1 - 1.
4. Saints continue to threaten but seem to be tiring and Bony is substituted with 10 mins to go.
5. Ericsson sees his chance and decides he better do something, so goes and wins the game with barely minutes to spare.
7. Vertonghen is clearly delighted for his former AJAX colleague and spurs fans and celebrates wildly in front of the away supporters with barely mins to go.

How that?

you are incapable of admitting he had a bad game. Which is patently obvious to everyone. He just hasnt got it.
