He is not a £3 million player. Just another derisory bid from us that will leave us short at one after midnight. You can change the body, but the fish rots from the head.
Well his contract is up in July and it seems like there aren't any competing bids yet, so right now their option is 3mil or nothing.

This is how negotiations work.

Sorry but you have no idea about football in the premiership!

He only has 6 months left on his contract and has said wont sign a new deal.
£3million is a good starting bid! Prob will end up being £6mill.

Go take your anti spurs/Enic to the relavant thread.

I have seen a couple posts from you and i just dont think you get premiership football.

Delph brings a high energy game and pace to the centre of the park, however his productivity in regards to goals and assists throughout his career have been ridiculously low and he actually isn't technically a good tackler either, just tenacious and aggressive which are good qualities but doesnt mean that tackling is a skill you posses.

If Poch believes the style of play, energy and pace in the transitional play, are qualities that we really need to add over those of a more productive, creative 'technical' player then we should go out and get him. If it is a second or third choice just because he is vaguely what Poch looks for in a player and cheap then forget it.

Just proves my point, you have no real insight or the intelligence to reply in words.
So you try and make a joke which is just spaming the thread.
I try and give you a little insight but people like you, make me realise i should just keep it to myself. Why should i post info when idiots like you are around.

I think Delphi is the kinda guy who could thrive for us.. Tenacious, desire to win games/tackles etc.. Pace, seems to have a good head on him, vocal, and Prem experience.. He's exactly what we don't have in the middle of the park. Dunno why we wouldn't go for him, especially as his price is low due to contract.. I really want Stambouli to come good, but I'm just not convinced he's quick enough of thought and body for this league.. His recent comments about the English game seem to confirm this, whether he can adapt next year or not, I dunno, but in the meantime, if we had Delph, I'd be putting him in the team ahead of Stambouli.

Delph, Mason, Bentaleb (why didn't he play last night ;)), and Dembele/Stambouli is a nice mix for us. Throw Carroll in for next year, and I like those options for our two cm spots..

Dembele should be the main man, but he doesn't seem to quite step up to it (Jenas-like). I actually think Delph and one of Mason or Bentaleb would be ace.

Sounds like you were talking about Jamie O'Hara......

Having a rethink about Delph if he is £3m. He may be a better option than the Rabiot loan.
If he is a hit-great. If not we could recycle him like Pienaar.

Delph may not be a first choice answer for us if we want to push on, but seeing as he's homegrown, it's much better to have him on the bench than Paulinho or Capoue.

Delph would be a really decent buy, he is not going to come here and warm our bench, he is better than most of our current midfielders and a no brainer for us to get at what he would cost.

I would trust Delph more to do the dirty work, the high energy pressing. He's a very fit lad and deceptively strong. Never going to be a world beater, but for the figures they're talking about, what an option he would be. I don't see Paulinho or Capoue as energetic or combative enough for Poch's system.

I think you know what you're getting with him, after more than a year I still don't know what I'm getting with Paulinho or Capoue when they're named.

As I say, for that sort of money, it almost seems like a bonus.

Agree completely.....one of the things that Delph does that i think would really benefit the squad....he makes smart runs off the ball and looks to drive forward on the ball. When Mason isn't in the lineup our CMs just don't seem to make dangerous runs off the ball all that often and surprisingly seem to sit back when on the ball, we get very static in our attack and Delph is the type of player that can help improve our movement....pair him with Bentaleb or Benji and i think Delph adds a nice bit of ability to our midfield rotation.

I'm not saying he'd be a bench warmer this season. But if we want to be a top 4 regular, players like Delph and Mason can't be first choice imo.

I am picking out the more negative posts just to clarify, but this is because they sort of fit in with how I see Delph. To re-iterate, not everyone on there has the same opinion.

But this is 'Villa Talk'

I think he's very good, but he's not the player people think he is, or want him to be.

He's never going to be an attacking midfielder who scores goals and gets assists at this level, imo.

What he is is a hard working box to box midfielder. Similar to Milner when he played in the middle, but less creative.

I think he'd do well in a decent midfield 3, but he needs someone to do the creating because he'll never be that player.

Delphs talent lies in his feet and the way in which he creates space and moves the ball. He moves into the little gaps with the ball that you can see when watching but alot harder to see when playing. People expect more of him as thats what top players do then move onto an assist or a goal, but thats what lacks from his game

Which is then summed up by;

think Dembele does what Delph does only better.

Dembele is clearly a more talented footballer, but I do think Delph has more aggression and legs. It's just something that I could see working better to support our more creative players.

Our 2 best performances this season were against Everton & the Chavs, high energy pressing , that is Delph's game, he is box to box and i believe a player waiting to explode as a top player at a better team than Villa, i really see him being a real star at the right club.

To be fair, look at Sturridge - can't always judge a player fully sometimes until he's given the right chances in a team that suits the player.

I think that the current scouting setup can be trusted, with Mitchell and Broomfield having a good track record for these things. Strange to put another player in front of Stambouli though, potentially

Which is then summed up by;

not a bad comparison.....it's a situation where i think both Delph and Dembele have the pieces that the other doesn't....Dembele is clearly exceptionally skilled but seems to lack some aggression and creativity....Delph doesn't have the same skillset as Dembele but is very aggressive, smart, has good instincts and a great work ethic (and less health issues)....if you could somehow combine Delph with Dembele into a single player you would have a stand-out CM.....

As it is i think Delph is a good player who could be a good contributor to the squad and would bring more to us than we are currently getting from Small Paul (who hasn't look bad of late), Capoue or Benji....
