Pochettino is also still interested in Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph.

The newly-capped England ace is out with a shoulder injury at the moment, but Pochettino is desperate to add power to his stuttering engine-room.

The 25-year-old’s contract at Villa Park runs out next year and manager Paul Lambert may have little option but to cash in on him during the January transfer window, or risk losing the player on a Bosman for nothing.

According to Goal Delph has rejected a £50k a week offer from Villa. So although cheap due to his contract the wage demand may be high.

Would be a good fit for us ATM would add some much needed steel and desire in midfield

This is exactly the type of transfer we should not be entertaining. He's just a decent but ordinary central midfielder. We have players in our squad and development group now who can do what he does, or who will if given the chance, to at least the same standard or better.

Very, very much no thank you.

Think he's fairly injury prone as well...

We don't have any players like him. We are lacking fighters, leaders and players prepared to roll up their sleeves and do the hard work. What I've seen of delph I would say he has a lot of those qualities

I don't think we are lacking fighters. Mason, Lamela (yes Lamela), Bentaleb, Stambouli, Soldado, Dier, Rose are all payers with competitive qualities.

Mason and Bentaleb both have competitive temperaments and are better footballers. So why bring Delph in just to clog up their progress.

We lack intelligence and composure more than we lack fight.

A lot of those players you mention do have a bit of fight but they lack experience and I question if these players show their fight in the right way.
The only players delphs arrival could effect is mason benteleb and stamboli but I personally would keep all 3 and delph for the central mid positions and ditch the rest

Then you are doing a Leeds of a few years ago and just filling your team with similar types. You need a balance of qualities, variation and we don't need another ordinary footballer just because he's a bit tenacious.

What? How have you got that from what I said?
Basically I'm replacing capoue, dembele, paulinho with delph, who I think is a better player and a type of player we lack

You're replacing three players who are completely different and offer very different things to Delph, to add him to the ones that are more like him ? It's pointless repetition.

How do you not get what I'm saying? We need more work rate, power and pace in midfield. Delph has this capoue dembele and paulinho don't

We have plenty of other players who offer variety

We need more discipline, more coherence and cohesiveness. We don't need to buy Delph for this. We need the coach to get the balance right and get the whole team playing more cohesively.

I agree with most of that but I think we lack the type of player to play disciplined especially in midfield

Decent player. Good at breaking up play and moving the ball around.

Would he be a good fit for us? Probably not, but he is better than BC is giving him credit for.

He certainly isn't a fighter. Pulled out of several challenges today.

I've actually quite liked what I've seen over the last season and a half.

But I don't think he's better than what we have. Many moan that we've bought a lot of 6 or 7 out of 10 players and I think Delph would just be another one.

I don't want him taking playing time from the likes of Mason and Bentaleb and I think Stambouli could be a good players for us given time.

Maybe we could sell Capoue or Paulinho and bring in Delph as a cheaper option but again I'd rather we stick with what we have.
