What I don't get is Mitchell has been attributed with a lot of Southampton's successful signings last season, supposedly based on the use of statistics and complex algorithms.

Instead our supposed targets and signings thus far seem more like something you'd hear put forward by Dave down the pub.

I just presumed our targets would be of a similar ilk, unknown and potentially unearthed gems from foreign leagues... I guess I was wrong (thus far).

Dave down the pub would have gone for Wimmer and Trippier would he?

Why all the Hernandez and Evans noise ? Obviously cabbages refers to players from either Marseilles or Lyon given the Olympic link!

That's the third cabbage. The first two are Evans and Hernandez.

Guess I was more inferring to our targets but Trippier isn't exactly 'unknown'.

Not knocking that particular signing, was one of the first to suggest him when Burnley's fate seemed sealed, as he had impressed me all of last season.

Has it been confirmed that the cabbages were Evans and Hernandez? Or are people calling for our scouting teams heads based on assumptions?

So, we say "Mitchell's a genius at signing unsung players who fit the system in a way others can't see" and in the same breath, say "Mitchell's a waste of oxygen: I can never see him fitting into our system".

Hmmmmm
Discuss.

I think JJ mentioned the other day that Mitchell doesn't have a black box or a program.

Lies. He clearly has an intricate program.

Poch: Mitch, I need a striker! He's got to score goals, just like Kane.
Mitchell: Ok, let's see. Like Kane you say? Well, if we take Kane's age, 21, and subtract it by his shirt number, 18, we get 3. The number 3 rhymes with the letter p. Pea, as in, a Little Pea. Quick, get Danny boy on the blower!

God people do worked up over what appears to be nothing. Jj confirmed that the other is the better one and be happy with. Considering he said we have been after huge potential all summer I really can't see it being Hernandez. Come on with Evans really that ain't a feesible link just cause he is a CB and we signed alderwierald you are all:cry::cry: ffs chill out! My wife doesn't get in hissy fits like this!

Whether a player is unknown or not is irrelevant really.

An unknown gem is good. A well known player might be good. A seemingly underwhelming player that we bring to their best would be good (Scott Parker, Steed Malbranque etc etc).

I'm just saying it's daft to dismiss the qualities of the scouting staff based on a couple of links. It's the sort of knee-jerk nonsense we've seen too much of at all levels of the club in recent years.

Where has this been confirmed or even coherently linked together?
It's pretty coherent when you remember how strongly Rob and A&C were hinting at a Mexican player. They have mentioned the Mexican colours green white and red together several times while talking about the cabbages.

"One smaller than the other" is talking about Hernandez's nickname little pea. Evans is the larger cabbage that is just green. Same grocer is United.

If it's not Evans and Hernandez I would be very surprised.

It is laughable just how worked up some folk get over what are essentially total guesses as to who we may be interested in. Trust that the club know what they are doing and for your own sake calm down.
