The drop off in quality when Davies plays instead of Rose is astonishing - he just doesn't suit the way we play.

Lamela on for Carroll please.

He has put his fellow teammates in awkward positions with his clearing headers multiple times this season. He misreads the flight of the ball and instead of getting a small arch on the clearance he lobs it up and really can't pick a direction with his head.

at least we can say Poch has got the reserves playing like the first team :cautious: Look like we could play for a week without scoring at the moment

Janssen looks up for it, just a yard out of position here or there at the moment. It's going to come.

Carroll, Dier and Janssen have been poor, IMO.

Janssen's hold up play has been decent but he's not really controlling the ball that well and he's not getting in positions to score.

I think Carroll has actually pressed the ball better than anyone for us.

Well, maybe, but is that what our 10s are supposed to do these days? Have we become an effort team? He should be making things happen, finding those angles in between defenders. I'd rather have a lazy bastard there, with a bit of flair.

Starting to wonder if the signing of Janssen rather than Batshuayi had anything to do with Mitchell leaving the club. Janssen doesnt seem athletic enough to be playing at this level and it seems easy for the defender to read what hes going to do.

Completely disagree. Jannsen has been one of our best players first half and our only attacking outlet.

Hope we don't turn to lamela for inspiration really.

These young guys, onomah, GNK, winks etc need to show more edge themselves, and there will be very few other opportunities for them to shine.

Onomah needs to wake up and realise he's in a football match. Carroll needs to somehow break through the force field that's stopping him getting within 30 yards of Liverpool's goal. Carter-Vikers has been decent.

utter tripe, unlucky on the goal we conceded but going forward its like watching the first team, movement is abysmal. tom carroll for about the 4th year looks the most pointless footballer ive witnessed in 30 years watching the game. never a number 10, been nowhere hear their box

Recovered pretty well to going a goal down, very little in the final third though which is probably to be expected with this team. Balance not right with too many wanting it to feet.

However for all the calls that Carroll, Onomah et al should be shot (yes ok I exaggerate) I don't think they've individually been that bad. What's more puzzling is that posters seem to be missing some of the shit Wimmer and Davies have been doing in that half. Neither can complain if they aren't getting much football on that 45 mins.

Ever seen him do anything? I know he's young and all that but don't get how he's ahead of the likes of winks for first team

Probably because when he actually plays in his position he has been better than winks at their respective levels.

Poch continues to play him in attacking role when he is clearly a central midfielder

Janssen our best player imo. He's a level above the rest up front there, just has no one to link up with.
