Barkley is almost the least of our priorities so I'm not concerned about waiting for him, especially if he's injured anyway.

It's the lack of a senior right back that annoys me

I'm usually patient but this is becoming a bit of a joke, how can we be 6 days away from start of the season with no recognised experienced rb and having to rely on youth players half of us hadn't heard of two weeks ago(georgiou) to fill up the bench

I understand why Barkley is taking time but the rest is just from sheer mismanagement by whoever deals with transfers or at the very least ridiculous penny pinching

Hopefully in a few days this will be out of date but that still isn't enough time for players to bed in and get used to poch
It takes about a year for most people to adapt to Pochettinos high training demands. It's funny how the only signing from last summer that didn't need a year was the one player who played under Poch before. Why do people think signing a player is going to have an impact right away anyway? I'm actually looking forward to last summers signings in their 2nd season under Poch. Even if we sign a RB in time for Newcastle they'll likely need a few months at least to get going in the system and style we play in.

I'm not saying we don't need to bring anyone in btw. Just that I dont think people should expect new signings to make us instantly better.

Mostly agree with this but Alli adapted very quickly and arguably a significant factor in Son's patchy first season was his recurring injury- he actually was quite impressive in the early stages of his first season. Footballing intelligence is necessary for this quicker climatisation though.

The lack of ambition from the highest level is soul destroying. We're so close with our players but Levy is more interested in attracting American Football to his investment portfolio.

We've been left short squad wise for yet another season and it's unacceptable.

From what JJ was saying last night the extra £5m that we're getting from the Siggy deal is going to help get a deal or two over the line. It shows where we are financially in comparison to the rest of the top six when an extra £5m can make such a big difference.

Totally agree, maybe we should have a whip round in here to help things along :cautious:

Good that all the ITK all seem to be getting the same information.must say that i find it totally unacceptable that the club still havent signed a player.if poch has been saying all along that KWP isnt ready WTF did they let walker leave before getting somebody at least close to in.we have known for months walker was going.typical penny pinching and no ambition from the club i love.sadly run to make money over success.

Hertyid again. Just a comment but the well is dry!

Barkley is a unique situation because he becomes free next summer and Everton have said they are definitely selling him. Hence the waiting game has a much higher probability of paying off (if that is indeed what we aren't doing).

That makes total sense to me. Everton wanted £50m for him at the start of the window. Someone might have paid that at the start of the window, but we're edging closer to our valuation with every day that passes. As for pre-season would Poch rather have Bakley in for £50m in July in time for pre-season, or him and one other sometime in August?

Think it's best to wait until the beginning of Sept to judge then if there are a lack of signings or shit one's then go for it, but most of us get frustrated with the way we drag things out but it maybe for the best(y)

Did the transfer window shut without us realising then?

Your prediction could actually end up being true, but the ITK is reasonably positive and most of us SC veterans have been around long enough to know that this is often how Levy plays the game.....late.

Start worrying if we haven't had a sniff by deadline day ;)

Signing for signings sake for some people.

Indeed. Dembele from a few years back springs to mind. Theoretically, we could trigger the Pereira fee at any point in the window and get him in as long as he is willing to join.
Do you have to pay a 'release clause ' in full? I know they are not the norm but appears PSG had to cough up the whole amount straight away for Neymar. Might be why Levy is trying to negotiate down according to some itk?!

Yeah, totally agree. The last few seasons turned out disastrous for us.

Remember, "Lessons have been learned."

Even if we signed someone today, it would be too late for them to settle into the squad and Poch's way of doing things. Now the season is upon us, there is no value in signing anyone until deadline day.

Is that you Daniel?

I despair.... of the future generation of Spurs fans. I guess this is the generation we hear about that have zero patience and want stuff now. Totally spoiled and not living in the real world.

I don't think the comments from the previous poster were unreasonable. We are supposed to be going for the title and we are massively in profit from recent transfers. We have holes in the squad that urgently need filling. We are the only Prem club that hasn't made a signing. I understand the poster's frustration that many of us share.
Hopefully the ITK comes true and we do make necessary signings. But until then it's not unreasonable if people start getting twitchy.
