My concern having read the Hertyid ITK is that it's all well and good being confident you'll be signing your targets or other players in the last week or two, but if you're trying to sign them from teams who themselves haven't yet accounted for that player's departure then it's perhaps just easiest for them to dig their heels in and keep that individual.

Luckily/unluckily - Barkley's arrival might be linked with Sigurdsson moving, but if Everton leave it too late to agree a fee then Swansea might just say no because they've got no time to get anyone in themselves. This results in Everton then deciding to hold on to Barkley.

I don't think Foyth is one of those names. Mainly because he wouldn't be a first teamer, I think its a RB, WF and Barkley.
I think if we can agree a deal for Foyth, we will allow Wimmer to leave. It's Barkley + WF as strengthening, plus replacements for those who leave, one of which will need to be a RB.

Not to drift too far off topic but id fancy the others to also have similar contract situations or maybe even release clauses we have to activate if we can't negotiate lower. It would explain the confidence we seem to have from latest ITK, despite seasons starting.

Hertyids comments showing all the ITK seem to be in unison that there is no panic, our primary targets are still available, and further still the ITK are all pretty much aligned pointing to the positional targets being RB, AM and WF/CF option.

I'm discounting the GK signing as done.

The only other area is likely to need to be addressed, will be if Wimmer goes. There was a comment from one ITK that a domino effect could take place off the back of Neymar's move. Barca buy Coutinho, Liverpool use some of that money on VVD, Saints replace him with Wimmer etc etc.

Indeed. Dembele from a few years back springs to mind. Theoretically, we could trigger the Pereira fee at any point in the window and get him in as long as he is willing to join.

I'd be shocked if we got three not including a right back.
True. Damn that's a lot of signings to make in a few weeks particularly if we sell Wimmer. We may need to do a triple signing announcement on deadline day :wideyed:

Possibly but I think he would still class as one of our initial targets even if he's a prospect for the future.

It's hard to say about RB and WF since not many names have been mentioned by the ITK (aside from all the guesses in here which I know A&C loves).

If we're in negotiations and it's just a case of agreeing fees then you can understand the confidence as a club wouldn't speak to us if they weren't willing to sell. Especially if the players contract is running out or they have a release clause.

That would make sense for Barkley and Pereira...which I'd be ok with.

Thought something was to be happening today on the transfer front?
One guy relayed what his friend's dad had told his friend and that was about it. None of the main ITKs backed this up and I think one made a side comment that he doubted there would be anything other than maybe the GK deal done today.

Think levy might have a reputation where clubs/players/agents think they could probably get more from other clubs coming in. So they wait to see if anyone does.

My hang up with that is the "we will be signing" part, as that signifies confidence. If the players are holding out for other clubs or contract extensions I don't know how you can have that level of confidence.

Agreed, every player is waiting for barca/Bayern/real/juve/free spending english team/psg..once they realise these teams aren't interested we may come into a players mind.
I want players who want come to our club, not to use us as a last resort if everything else on their agenda fails :(

We all do, but that discounts 95% of our modern stars, the majority of which have left for 'bigger things'.

I agree with your sentiments, but it works both ways, though. We too sometimes sign players who might not have been the very first choice. What they do after they sign, that's really what matters.

The ITK of the last 24 hours is positive and all fits together nicely. Hopefully not if but when.

Fingers crossed then!

But if we look at it from another angle, since we are already so close, shouldn't we strengthen so we can win the league? Or we can actually strengthen so to prevent our tragic CL performances like last season?

Not trying to diss Levy or our transfer team as I do not have any idea what is going on behind the scene, but looking at the transfers of teams around so far, questions do indeed have to be raised, and I hope that things can be clarified in time to come.

Nonetheless, it is good to hear that the ITKs are on the same page and honestly at this stage, I would be ecstatic if we can get in 2 or even 1 of our original targets, not to mention 3.

I don't disagree particularly with any of what you've said, and I would have liked to see some incoming so far too, but you've presented your view in a reasonable manner. The poster I quoted made his point in a sensationalist way which implied that last season was some kind of train wreck from which we should have made radical changes to avoid repeating.

I'm usually patient but this is becoming a bit of a joke, how can we be 6 days away from start of the season with no recognised experienced rb and having to rely on youth players half of us hadn't heard of two weeks ago(georgiou) to fill up the bench

I understand why Barkley is taking time but the rest is just from sheer mismanagement by whoever deals with transfers or at the very least ridiculous penny pinching

Hopefully in a few days this will be out of date but that still isn't enough time for players to bed in and get used to poch
