I've never joined the bandwagon with winks like most on this forum. He's very tidy but mostly sideways and backwards.

Going in 1-0 isn't bad, we are still in the game. An absolute shocker of a set piece to concede. We are struggling with De Bruyne mega press and Sane finding acres of space

Still in this game however

As long as we're only a goal down, there's still a chance of getting something from this game.

Second half? They might as well get changed and go home.
Don't agree. We can get something out of this if only Poch makes the right changes.

We are not going to outplay them in this form. He needs to be pragmatic. Flood the midfield, bring Lamela on to stop Sane and try to counter them and/or get some sort of possession. The main thing is to keep it 1-0 and if we counter well we will get one or two opportunities.

Nice to see the referee letting the little things go, you know the kind of thing, kicking people in the face and no red card.
But do you know what, we're going to win this.

Winks is too much like Scott Parker for me. Still waiting to see the magic.

Don’t get the comparison? Winks is a ball player Parker was a destroyer. Winks has been off form for a few weeks now, if he is not keeping possession and ticking the play over? What is he doing? Sissoko has pace power strength and athleticism, he will/would have offered more than winks in this game

OP and others - I am still here, just exceptionally busy with work currently. Will be back in the new year.

As for this so far, pretty depressing. City are good and wasn't expecting much but all at sea again in a high intensity game where we get pressed. The formation isn't working at all and players seem unsure of their jobs and getting dragged here, there, and everywhere. Stop using Lloris and funnelling the ball down the touchline would be a good start. There is no easy answer, but we just have to do things better - control better, pass better and quicker, better movement, vision, etc, etc.

I hear there was some sort of fans forum in the week, what a waste if presumably no one asked about set pieces (with examples) both attacking and defending. Someone will no doubt be along to give the stats that they aren't that bad, fuck off - they are. Our marking is atrocious, and when City are holding such a high line why doesn't someone pull wider and then give an option to run across the back of them? These are professional footballers FFS, if I as a rank amateur can see it and realise what potentially I could do to make the set piece more threatening why cant they?

Just about still in, just about....

Surely Trippier? Getting destroyed every time by Sane and when do get forward his balls have been arse
Is it all just his fauilt though?

Sane is one of the quickest players in the world. When Gary Neville used to come up against a quicker player, he or Ferguson would pull Beckham back, or a midfielder across. Or Fegie would play Park and sit him in front. Have a plan.

I don't mind losing to a better team, but I want us to at least try to be smart, and have plan, and if that's not working, then dig in and fight. At the moment we're doing to usual thing when things go against us at big grounds. We start playing like zombies.
We got rattled by the best team in the league and by one of the genuinely top managers in the world today ... 1-0 is a solid score at half time.

I want it to read differently, but city have been at it all bar sticking a few more in the back of the net.

TBF we should have created more. In the first 20 minutes or so we had time on the ball and players in good poisitons but the final pass was piss poor or too slow. There are spaces out there to exploit if we are better with the ball.

Decent first 10mins, but outplayed since. Winks should be coming in alongside Dembele at the base, just to offer another pass. Trippier has been left isolated, and has understandably struggled massively against Sane. Eriksen looks like he doesn’t believe he can win a tackle when he closes. And it’s brave to play Son, but either him or Kane has to drop back to help out defensively.

Thankfully we’re only losing by one, and when we have had the ball in their final third, their back line isn’t convincing. I’d be tempted to bring Davies in as a third CB, and maybe Lamela who can play a quick accurate ball forward.

It’s all about breaking that press. Much easier said than done.

However bad we've been it's still only 1-0 and they don't look watertight at the back either

We knew we'd have to ride our luck and we have and we'll need some more because tbf to them they are ducking good, a lucky pen pls ref

Although Citeh is running off with title, can they please don't make it so damn obvious..

KDB swearing at officials protesting decisions can never go unpunished.

Sent some standards please, FA.

They don’t have any standards mate, this league is rotten to the core, from the money polluting it to the shit standard of officiating.

Don’t hold your breath.

At least we are giving it a better go, away to the leaders than United did against the same opponents at home.
