Right - but City do not have an adequate replacement, with pace, for Walker. Other positions they have cover - even for Haaland.

City will be favored to win, at home, this season no matter the circumstances - but missing Walker gives a good counter-attacking squad the best chance to get points.
They have cover for Haaland? Well, i'm not so sure about that. He'd be massive miss for them but i'm not going to argue the toss too much over hypotheticals.

Romero is just back and doesn't look fully up to speed in last match, son also isn't up to full speed for his high standards! And even though Kane is scoring, he has had a few quiet games.

Given they are some of our main players, having time to get them into form/fitness along with Richarlison getting more involved in the games it also benefits us also. But will all come down to the result of the game. If we lose, we will say it didn't help (though still could have lost anyway) and if we win, we will say it helped.

But you could argue that we haven't really got going yet.

More time with Conte on the training pitch is definitely a bigger advantage than an injury or two.
Sure, but city aren't exactly in great form either, and they've gotten away with it a few times. Ultimately, I'm not sure playing it now or later makes much of a difference.

Not really. For years, waving an England flag was associated with being a racist. Having an England flag outside your house, a comparatively rare thing here (unlike the USA), was a surefire sign the inhabitant was a racist. It's only in recent years that we've moved away from that and it's ok.
My point of reference here ARE the recent years. We are talking about an event that is in the present.

Well nobody really is, unless you have a crystal ball.

But I've a feeling we'll be a lot stronger on into the season.

I have the same feeling about Man city though too. Right now they have scary elements but are very disfunctional. I don't think they are at a better point than we are.

Well They've dished out a hammering or two...so in the attacking sense they certainly have been.

We've been sound defensively though but there's a lot more to come from us in the attacking sense.

Whenever we get this match if will mostly be the same, except hopefully we will have Son in form. Conte does best when he has time to prepare and he won't whenever the match is rescheaduled, and he wouldn't after the CL match anyway. But another January transfer window like last year and who knows...

Honestly with the record Son has against City if he's on form for the rescheduled match then it could favour us. I'm not fussed about Walker, he's not that great anymore. We had no trouble scoring 3 with him playing including the header that Kane beat him to when we won the fixture last season.

I suspect the profile of the sport plays a big part too.

The PL is about 10x bigger than the rugby, cricket and racing combined. Probably 100x if you take into account the popularity worldwide. Therefore whatever decision the PL makes will be scrutinised 10x more than any other sport, and the actions of any shitty fans at the grounds amplified 10x more by the tabloids.

I don't get the impression it was some calculated "fuck the proles" move decided by the landed gentry while they have their jollies at the ruggers and cricket. Rather just a PL board extremely conscious of the PR surrounding an incredibly high profile sport and trying to do the right thing.
No of course it's not a fuck the proles thing but it is a prevailing attitude that the "proles" can't be trusted to act like them.
Imagine 10x the effect when football fans across the country stand as one to show their respect to the late Queen, imagine the effect of that going round the world.

He's called Julian Alvarez. Absolutely ridiculous they could buy the two of them within six months of each other.

'If your mother died on Thursday afternoon would you be going to a football match on the Saturday?'

Well, I went straight from my mother's funeral to a(nother) pub to watch Ajax v Tottenham in 2019, safe in the knowledge she'd've wanted me too. And one of the things my mum most admired about the queen was her 'the show must go on'-ness.

Yes, i'm sure they have forwards but that wasn't the point. When this Alvarez chap has the same impact he might make me wrong. Until then, I remain unsure they've got cover for Haaland. Right now he would be a huge miss for them.

Posting one journalists opinion doesn't validate your pov. You could just as easily post one saying it was the correct decision. Ryan Masons

Just accept it and move on, continually whining about it won't change anything.
If I could find a coherently argued piece that made me think again as opposed to a two line tweet I’d be happy to link to it.

They should just play these cancelled games during the world cup. Teams can use their players that are not in World Cup squads. Woukd be fun to see Haaland against our reserves!

Seems they are considering cancelling FA Cup replays to enable smoother rescheduling of the games. I admit to not liking them, but it does punish the smaller teams to be honest.
