Anyone who thinks Sissoko is good enough is a problem, and shows extremely low standards, having players like him wont win us anything, no other club in the top 6 would have a player like him near the squad, add insult his also our top featured player this season too. No one can make excuses for him, saying he works hard, that is a bare minimum, at the level we are aiming for, nowhere near good enough.

There isn't a person on the forum who actually thinks that.

And everyone knows he won't be here long.

Making him the weekly pinata - especially on matchdays where he doesn't deserve it - is fucking dull af, though.

Get a new hobby.

I can't believe this thread is 169 pages long and I still haven't posted my opinion on Sissoko :wideyed:.

Mind you, as I have nothing to add that hasn't already appeared at least 100 times, I think i'll leave it that way :meh:.

So a player is consistently one of worst players on the pitch and we should applaud him for not being the actual worst player?

The others have proved themselves to be good to great players, he has never shown himself to be anything other than.... there.
he wasnt close to the worst player on the pitch today. or last week.

I always felt that Sissoko was the man to fill Erikson's boots when injured and Poch obviously agrees

He was neither the worst player nor the best player against Newport. Many other players were poorer them him in this match however other players like Son and even Foyth (2nd half) had better impact in the game than him. So I wouldn’t classify him as being our best player in the match.

I think the frustration with fans over him is based mainly on his performances throughout the season and not solely today. The situation is further fuelled when Poch picks him over other better players who are available. For example, in the Southampton match, Lamela had already started 3 (?) matches since his return from injury and I would have expected him to start ahead of Sissoko as Eriksen was missing (ill) for that match and we needed another creative cover for Eriksen. If Lamela was one of those that was reportedly ill then why was he on the bench and why was he eventually played (late on in the game).

I’m no fan of his, as I don’t think he has the quality to be in the squad with the ambitions that we have but I’m not going to scapegoat him for his performance in this match. Players like Dembele & Wanyama were much poorer than him against Newport but if you average out the performances of these two players across this season (or even include last season), then you can see that they are better quality players than Sissoko.

When he leaves, the calm will return here.

We will need upgrades for Sissoko, Llorente and Dembele (who is past his best and only occasionally performs well these days but he has been a very good servant for the club during his time here) in the summer.

As for Trippier, we already have his replacement in KWP but Poch just needs to give him more playing time in his rightful position (RB).

Scapegoating a player who was nowhere near our worst player yeaterday is getting a bit tedious.

KWP, Trippier, Wanayama, Dembele, Dier, and Llorente were all worse imo and receive much less abuse, but the bandwagon continues.

While I don’t agree with fans at the game abusing our players, there is only so much they can take when such a mediocre player gets more minutes than any other Spurs player. Either Poch sees something we are all missing or he’s making a statement to Levy to get the cheque book out as this player is the best option he has and look how fucking shit he is. Either way I hope we sign a couple of players and he gets nowhere near the starting 11 again.

I know, I know but it’s not his fault he keeps getting picked mate.

Heard fans calling for him to die he hung etc last night.

Even heard one call him a useless gorilla. That was after the same person has also called for him to be shot, at one point I’m even pretty sure he heard our fans abusing him as when Kyle walker peters got stuck in a corner he refused to go and help as our fans were giving him pelters.

It’s not his fault he does not fit this team he does actually try but he’s just lost he clearly doesn’t understand what’s being asked of him and that all comes back to our manager.

We’ve had worse players much worse but he’s just joined us sadly when our team is too good if you are not at an elite technical level you get found out.

He wasn’t that bad, and to be fair the replay might be useful in getting a few other players back up to speed and a chance for a couple of new signings (hopefully)

People like that should be banned for life.

Samuel Johnson had the last word on this
when he watched Moussa playing this season.

"Sir, Moussa Sissoko playing for Spurs or a women preaching is like a dog's walking on his hind legs. It is not done well; but you are surprised to find it done at all."

There were many others in our team who had as bad a game as Sissoko yesterday and I can understand why it may seem unfair to single him out and scapegoat him, on the other hand I can equally see why he has drawn so much criticism.

We all know that his first touch and his ability to control a ball is awful as has been said on many occasions, but what I think is really bringing it to the fore in this game is that his abilities in this department even compared unfavourably to many of the Newport players and his price tag and wages compared to those players leads to frustration and an outpouring of anger and resentment.

We can cite the fact that the pitch is awful, but you can also say that for everyone else last night, and if we were judging all the outfield players from Newport and Spurs last based their ability to control the ball and their first touch, Sissoko was pretty near the bottom by some distance. As said already, when his price tag and his experience in games at all levels, Champions league included is nowhere near that of any Newport player you can see why the criticism is fierce.
