I watched the one where he was no worse than Vic, Dembele and nearly everyone else.

For those who itch for a reason to hate on this guy,,,this game ain' it.

So a player is consistently one of worst players on the pitch and we should applaud him for not being the actual worst player?

The others have proved themselves to be good to great players, he has never shown himself to be anything other than.... there.

He's played well in 3 of his last 4 games. Very positive sign and I hope he continues to gain consistency and sharpen his game up.

No idea why people go out of their way to sling shit at the guy.

He worked hard tonight and had a decent game and I appreciated his performance.

The Sissoko talk is simply taking over numerous threads.

This thread is 168 pages of people pointing out all the reasons he isn't good enough with a handful of people occasionally saying "he wasn't our worst player" or "he put in a shift."

The match thread is almost always a shit read but it's completely unreadable now. There was lots to discuss today.

Different formation. Almost going out to a 4th tier side. Some truly woeful performances. But no, it's almost all Sissoko talk.

It's just so fucking boring. Pretty much everyone posting about Sissoko is just copying and pasting the exact same thing they have written before.

But it's one of those occasions when there's 'provocation'. Like with Jenas, it wasn't so much that he was bad, more that he was underperforming (relatively speaking) yet people were furiously defending him. Since this time it was Pochettino himself, this is just going to run and run.

It's not scapegoating. There's just a profound dissonance in people's perceptions of Sissoko - meaning he's going to be a hot topi. You just have to accept it.

He’s in lots of threads because he’s a divisive subject. Almost every week in the player rating threads, bulletspur will mention Sissoko in the opening post so it creates further discussion about him.. and when people reply to that post, others are like ‘WHY YOU MENTION SISSOKO INNIT, HE WAS ONLY THE 3RD WORST PLAYER TODAY’.

No one blames him for us being shit or us losing etc, people just get fed up with his performances every week so of course the chat will revolve around him and of course it’ll be the same kind of stuff being said, because he’s consistent in what he does. We all know his faults and limitations but Poch continues to pick him so we’ll just have to accept it, but while that continues to happen then so will this thread, unfortunately.

But... he did all those things tonight. You sure you watched the game?

He may have passed the ball but not with any, above pub footballer intelligence, but in a "if it's batter me over the head obvious, I'll see it" way, and he may have run past a defender once, maybe twice but then did fuck all, he also did lots of really terrible things, like take up really poor positions when people were looking to try and play from midfield to attack (he literally got in the way of KWP first half and Dembele second half where he just didn't have the basic footballing wit to move into a a position to help them instead of get in there way), like not control the ball when it was simple to do so, he trundled into people repeatedly.

Dembele and Wanyama weren't incisively creative either, but no-one's falling over themselves to big up their performances either.

Exactly. And some claim these are fair criticism when they are slating him for things he did well.

He doesn't do anything well. He does a couple of things moderately effectively a game, at best, everything else he does is very, very, rudimentary at best, atrociously bad (for this level) at worst.

Yawn.

I didn't say anything about scapegoating.

In the match thread people could discuss the match. Instead there is a general comment about Sissoko's lack of ability then another poster slags him off despite the fact others are playing really poorly.

Then others get bored or irritated with the sheer number of Sissoko posts so respond defending him.

Then others reiterate that he is poor.

Then others reiterate that at least he is trying.

Despite this there was actually a lot going on in the match.

It's just so tiring and boring. I wasn't defending Sissoko but you still came out with the tired old shit of "scapegoating" despite being completely irrelevant.

We just have to accept there is little to discuss with Sissoko. Especially in match threads we could about other things.

I dont think he is a divisive subject. He's almost universally described as not good enough throughout the entire forum.

Because he can't even trap a ball ffs. For me one of the most basic skills is being able to control a ball when it arrives. Half the time it ends up anywhere other than under his control. He was playing an attacking role and offered nothing. Dele and Son came on and at least offered a threat, a clever pass, created some fear in their defence. The only fear he creates is he might run into someone and hurt them being the lump that he is. Nothing wrong with his effort, it's just talent and a footballers brain he lacks.

It's so dull.

The guy is here until the summer and has recently picked his game up. I hope it continues and we get as much out of him as we can when poch sticks him out there.

Ya'll scream at the wind if you want. Still gonna blow.

Look no one played well tonight. If you meen he played well for Sissoko then maybe he did but that level is so low it is hardly something to be proud of. Name me another top 6 side that he'd even get in the squad of? None of them would touch him with a barge pole. I'm sure he's a nice guy and seems popular within the squad but if we want to compete for the title and CL every season we have to set the bar far higher than Sissoko.

Anyone who thinks Sissoko is good enough is a problem, and shows extremely low standards, having players like him wont win us anything, no other club in the top 6 would have a player like him near the squad, add insult his also our top featured player this season too. No one can make excuses for him, saying he works hard, that is a bare minimum, at the level we are aiming for, nowhere near good enough.
