Please let this be a turning point. He looks so much more at ease in the attacking areas than Emerson.

Prefer him to Emerson, ER just seems very clumsy and plays quite erratically. Deffo has some qualities but a long way off being good enough imo.

he’s the opposite of emerson. very little ability, can’t get himself into the positions by dribbling or with pace, a little weak defensively, but knows what to do when he has the ball in the final third and had the ability to execute.

doherty over emerson until the end of the season, for sure

If he can put in a string of performances like today, I’d rather he’s kept as the back up and move Emerson on in the summer.

He did well at Leicester too. At least now he's inconsistent rather than consistently bad.

Fair play to him, took his goal well, had a hand in Kulusevski’s goal too, and so very nearly paid Sess back for his assist. We still need better, but this is a good pat on the back for him.

He is nowhere near the level we need, he's our worst player, but today he showed - the team showed - that we can use the one thing he is good at, which is getting into useful positions. If he gets into good positions with so much space he can't mess it up, and Kane can find him there, then that is not a total disaster. I still prefer Emerson because he can defend though.

In this system what’s more important? If it’s attacking qualities then on balance Doherty has to play.
