And in the first game we weren't looking immobile and lacking pace. In fact we dominated, created chances and should have scored more than four. Nothing worrying about today. The first half is standard for us at Stamford Bridge and yet we came away with a point while boosting confidence following a last minute equaliser.worrying thing is it’s 2nd game and we just look so immobile and lacking pace.
Chelsea are a footballing giant in World football, they have World class players all over the pitch and are looking at spending near another 1/2 billion pound further in this window.
Yet some seem surprised we couldn't roll up to their house dominate them and come back with 3 points.
I wonder what planet some of us reside on sometimes
We were outplayed so couldn’t get any rhythm to our play. I fear any team prepared to really go at us will have similar success. Though Chelsea do have great players which most clubs don’t.worrying thing is it’s 2nd game and we just look so immobile and lacking pace.
I thought he was very good. Agree about the price tag though. What did Cucurella show today btw? Cant understand praise nor the pricetag lol
We were losing out on second balls largely due to the tactical set up - not some nebulous lack of desire. PEH and Bentancur were constantly surrounded by three or four players. We won plenty of 50/50 balls, but lost them to the press right after. They pressed high to win it back and if they didn't they retreated far enough to let dier/romero/davies have the ball with no outlet pass. We kicked it long and lost it. Son tried to drop into the hole to make space for Sess, but we just weren't clean enough with the final ball. Our forwards were clearly trying to back in, but Silva and Koulibaly were just better. It happens. Again, most teams we play won't be able to bully Kane and Kulu like those two did today. Chelsea pressed well and we weren't clean enough on the ball to play through it. We were certainly fortunate to get the draw based on the two goals we scored, but we created just as many decent chances as they did. Mendy made more saves than Lloris. I don't think the call on Romero was that bad. VAR looked at it and let it go. They both had arms and hands all over each other. Our players didn't have a great half, but Conte put them into a position to fail. He recognized it and swapped it after 55 mins with the formation swap. Maybe the plan was always to keep it tight and then try to be expansive towards the end. I don't know. Perisic would have been just as overrun as Sess was. Perisic will provide a nice attacking spark, but he will probably still be behind Sess in games where we plan on sitting in and frustrating. We were woeful that first half - and I am sure Conte thought the same.
Why? We could not pass, we lost 50 50s or second balls, we couldnt press, our second touch was a tackle which we subsequently lost, we lost the duels. Someone backs into you? you back into them and bully them, 9 times out of 10 that doesnt go in? yes but it did, 9 times out of 10, Romero would get sent off but he did not.
I agree that Chelsea were brilliant today in my view and if we played like that we would be lauding it. We were lucky we got that draw and im not complaining because they have had their fair share of decisions in the past. Richarlison was offside and Romero should have been sent off and a free kick given, no corner and game over. We showed great character and resilience which I thoroughly loved.
I agree with you about the fancy toys bit, and said as much last week. People want to see our new players so quickly when our current crop hadnt done too much wrong carrying over from end of last season (although Perisic is th eonly one I would have stated). Today those new toys were needed at half time.
That's not a "but" that an "and".Agree. But how many times have we played them off the park and lost or not got what we deserved in recent years
We were playing a very good team playing as good as they can, they played out of their skins today, that's how much it meant to them. You shouldn't worry if we didn't look our best all over but we didn't go under we matched them in the end and came out level.worrying thing is it’s 2nd game and we just look so immobile and lacking pace.
Unlike Germans to force their cultural and societal norms on foreigners through acts of naked rage and violence…Objectively soeaking, it is an extremely important thing culturally for Germans to make eye contact when shaking hands with peers. My German colleague coincidentally told me about this a few weeks ago when we were at a conference. It's customary in most cultures, but especially so in Germany, apparently. Suspect the heated atmosphere brought this to the fore for Tuchel.
Would that have given us the win?We also need a couple more signings
Apart from completely cutting Deki out of the game while constantly providing an attacking threat? Yeah… can’t think of anything he showed…What did Cucurella show today btw? Cant understand praise nor the pricetag lol
We've really caused them pain today haven't we? I posted before the game this is the game they most hate to lose, they drew but it feels like a loss to them.I'm fucking amazed those neanderthal's know what the internet is. ****s. Let's start a petition to get Taylor in next years honours list.
Thousands sign petition calling for Anthony Taylor to be banned from refereeing ChelseaThousands sign petition to ban Anthony Taylor from refereeing Chelsea matches
Chelsea fans were left livid after they believed that both Tottenham goals in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge should have been disallowed by the officialswww.mirror.co.uk
At the time of writing some 16,000 people have signed the change.org petition, which alleges that: "Anthony Taylor has continued to make big decisions against Chelsea over the years in big matches.
"Taylor has an agenda against Chelsea and should not be allowed to referee a game involving the club again."
So, four points so far, both gained from losing positions. A nice little positive to take from it.
Yet still today people posted saying we 'bottled it'. I know people are entitled to their opinions but fuck me, why are they so predictably over the top all the time. Always over spiteful, over dramatic and more often than not born in the house of the flying knee. I'm convinced three quarters of us actually don't understand what we're watching.
We played badly. Happened before, will happen again**. It's frustrating this football lark isn't it.
**I won't be 'shocked' when it does
