Gaining a point and denying Chelsea two is valuable, but I think Conte will have learned several lessons from the game. Perisic and Bissouma are in our strongest XI, and 4 at the back is not an option at any stage against the top teams.
Yet the 4-2-4 was a major part in getting us back in the game. It opened the game up and created chaos in a game that was too orderly.

However, I thought Conte made a major mistake not fixing that after it went 1-1. In any case it's likely we will see it again, Conte did as much as say so in his press conference. But it's a system we need to learn.

So on MOtD the say Bentacur was an obvious foul......hmmmmm. How did the ball change direction when Havertz never touched it?

Surely though someone has to take responsibility on the pitch and say to the five guys at the front post that they are outnumbered at the back post.

Yes our World cup winning GK has some explaining to do.

I don't think Chelsea will play as well again this season, and they couldn't beat us.
If you're low on tears, or salt, or both, get your needles ready and go on twitter. It's glorious.

Well it could still be a foul if Bentacur kicks Haverts first. I don’t think he does and he does get the ball. So not a foul.
Though Bentacur did make a few fouls do he could have had a yellow card at some point.

Not that I want anyone to be abused, but never understand why it’s players and teams that get the abuse about bad decisions when it’s the referee that makes them. Some of the comments I’ve seen online about Tottenham players are just disgusting. It’s things like this that make me dislike football.

Conte got it badly wrong today IMO. He should have hooked Kulu for Bissouma and gone to 3-5-2 when it was obvious we were getting overrun in midfield. Also, going to 4 at the back was a major factor in conceding their 2nd goal. With Romero and Dier getting dragged across, Davies had way too much space to cover without a wing back helping him out.

Don’t think it will be too long before we see changes to the starting line up. Conte picked the strongest team available but once 2 or 3 of our new players are up to speed they’ll come in to improve the quality of the team. Perisic, Bissouma, and Lenglet will probably be starters in about 3-4 weeks; with Hojbjerg, Sess, and Dier/Davies dropping out. Richy might give Son a kick up the arse too as he’s been disappointing in these two games.
Hard to leave a player like Son out. However, if Son has games like today, Richarlison will be on.

I don't even think it's Son's fault, he's just simply much more effective when he has space and can run at teams. When he's denied that, he offers very little, whereas Richarlison is a warrior and you need players like him to play through pressure.

I can also see Spence eventually in at RWB.

Fuck knows what they're on about in crying about Taylor after he's given them about 10 soft free kicks throughout the game and even overruled the lino when he'd given us a goal kick at one point. Bentancur got the ball and hardly scythed the bloke down, and whatever you think of Romero mucking about with Cucurella, he didn't even see it and it was cried off by VAR. I can't think of a single decision that went in our favour for the entire match that had anything to do with Anthony Taylor on the pitch.

Also, why was Tuchel so rattled today? I know he has some personal issues off the field etc and it must have been a bit nuts behind the scenes at Chelsea these last 6 months but what the hell?

You'd have thought we played them off the park and he was trying to distract from that or something the way he acted.

Didn't see the match, but from what I had heard I was expecting to see us completely under the cosh first half on MOTD. The real chances were pretty even in the highlights, so I guess Chelsea dominated possession but created very little with it.

Bentancur's tackle on Havertz wasn't what I would call clean, but he certainly got something of the ball. In any case, we scored on our third attack after that, during which time a Chelsea player had touched the ball. You can't possibly disallow a goal in the situation. And there is no way their keeper couldn't see the ball when it was hit.

As for our second, there is no question that Romero should have been given a red card for violent conduct though.

We were outplayed in the first half especially but todays result was exactly like United or Chelsea teams of the past would have ground out in title winning campaigns.

He looked like Roadrunner with oversized trainers. Then like the 7 up boy fronting Conte. He clearly has issues. The horses head in his bed tomorrow might tip him over the edge.

I did think this. He’s behaviour was probably stemmed by something that’s been bubbling. The look into my eyes thing is just an excuse to have let rip.

Title contenders find a way to get points regardless of performance. If City or Liverpool did that everyone would be screaming what great character to dig in until the end.
From the positive responses to your posts, i gather there are many then. Good luck with the high level of expectations.
