You tend to find quite a lot of lads from academies who don't make it end up there, so there's usually some decent grounding in the basics. Also the fitness levels are still very high.Oh true - there's a definite drop off in quality from the premier League but in relative terms, it's very decent. I watched Gateshead last season in the national League north and I was surprised how well they played at that level.
The biggest stars are the groundsmen at these grounds. The stands will be little more than concrete and scaffold, but some of the pitches are like carpets.
