Oh true - there's a definite drop off in quality from the premier League but in relative terms, it's very decent. I watched Gateshead last season in the national League north and I was surprised how well they played at that level.
You tend to find quite a lot of lads from academies who don't make it end up there, so there's usually some decent grounding in the basics. Also the fitness levels are still very high.

The biggest stars are the groundsmen at these grounds. The stands will be little more than concrete and scaffold, but some of the pitches are like carpets.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

It really has moved on so much in the last few years.

Bleh... Good for them, but in the meantime their netflix series opportunity has distorted that league into an unsustainable race. Non league football shouldn't have league two players getting league one salaries. Most clubs down there are struggling to keep the lights on from week to week.

Maybe it can go back to normal next season, but my worry is that now the expectation is that a club has to prepared to make a £2m plus loss in order to get into the football league, and that would kill most of them... and nearly has this very season. And all because a couple of Hollywood actors wanted a plaything for a TV series.

Bitter? Yes I am.
Nah, mate, I'm sure the League 2 top goalscorer who got promoted to League 1 while Championship clubs were monitoring him chose to drop out of the Football League for non-financial reasons :cautious:

He probably is more famous for going there than he might have been being a run of the mill stricker in the championship.

But agree, but much like city, Chelsea ect in the premier league, if the owners are willing to pump cash in, who's to stop them?

Part financial, part family. He's from Liverpool and had a family and young kids on Merseyside while he was commuting back and forth to Cambridge.

Don't blame him for switching from a 3,5 hour drive each way to a 1 hour drive at most and getting a lot more money out of it.

Obviously the technical level is nowhere near, but genuinely felt like some of Notts County's build up play and passing patterns were better than ours recently.

Not sure if that says more about them or us? Maybe both.

Wrexham need six points to clinch it and both their next two are at home.

If any game after Notts was OK to drop points in it was this one.

My local non league outfit, Raynes Park Vale, just won the Southern Counties Combined, featuring the older brothers Gallagher as Manager, Defender and Forward.

I like seeing what people are talking about, so I checked them out on the Google Maps photo reel. Now I'm hungry.

97th minute equalizer, and then 120th minute winner in extra time for notts county! Would feel bad for them if they didn't go up also this season with the points they got.
