Admittedly as soon as somebody said he's like Modric, I could only look at him through that lens. Judging on clips alone, whether he's capable or not I don't know but stylistically these are my favourite type of players.

I think there's a good record of the best player from Celtic being good enough elsewhere; Larsson, Wanyama, Van Dijk. I'd like to see this one happen.

Agreed and for the rumored price, hard not to take a punt. I like when we target players that offer something different than what we currently have. No two players are exactly the same, but a lot of what we have are similar.

Absolute heartbeat of Celtic’s attack. Linked the single pivot role to the attack and then joined in attacking moves late on at the top of the box. Good under pressure, tidy dribbler and is very comfortable taking on risky passes you need to make Ange’s quick transitions work.

If it’s cheap, he’s the one that could make the leap from that Celtic team (along with Jota)

Yh I think given what we've lost with Bentancur and the rumour he'll miss start of season, this signing seems to cover both aspects. Offers something different to what Bentancur does and can compliment him but also seems to have the skills to cover what we lost. I'd feel very good about a midfield with the skills of Hatate, Bissouma, Bentancur, Sarr, Skipp. To an extent Hojbjerg has a unique skillset but I get the feeling he may be the odd one out, that list of 5 though; What more can you ask for in central/deep midfield?

Supposedly in his contract that he can move to a Prem side for £3mil, don't know how true that is though.

Great player.
That story seemed to stem from a Scottish football twitter account that is notoriously pro Rangers, would be shocked if it’s anything but a wind up targeted at Celtic fans.

Would be great if Levy could push the boat out for him 😎

Good with both sides of the right foot which opens up so many more angles for a midfielder.

Can shoot, too!

Hmmm... People keep saying Mitoma from Brighton is a class act... before Brighton he played for Kawasaki and was loaned out to Union St. Gilloise in Belgium... why is that any different to Hatate at Celtic ? ... we didn't know about Mitoma until his breakthrough under De Zerbi... why can't Hatate do the same under Ange... and he already knows him ?
As i said in a follow up post, my concerns are not primarily about the quality of the league. You can't write off every player in a given league just because the league is poor but you still need to take it into consideration after all for every VVD there are many Odsonne Edouard's. And that goes for most weaker leagues, the Eredivisie is a perfect example which is much stronger league then the SPL. Ultimatly you have to take it on a player by player case and for me personally, from what I've watched of him, yes he looks good but I'm not 100% convinced and as I said there are other's in that position i like the look of a lot more.

Did not realise that, thought it was probably too good to be true.

I don't want to go off topic but I'm glad to see Jota mentioned a couple of times. The couple of Celtic matches I watched HE was the standout player to me. But, admittedly, I know even less about player evaluation than Levy.

Hatate and Jota would be the two players I would sign from Celtic.

Hatate would work well in midfield with Bissouma & Bentancur.

Jota seems like a natural successor to Son too.

Getting a kick out of those who say they’ve watched a few videos and aren’t sold on the player when our manager has watched him in person every day for the last two years.

I really like Hatate. Smart, two footed, very good engine, great eye for a pass and has a good shot on him. Knocks on him would be his size, but he’s strong for his stature and I wouldn’t be concerned. I think he’d translate to the prem well, especially playing with the calibre of players we have. Would give us that something different in the squad, knows Anges requirements completely and wouldn’t break the bank either.

Just looked in to it, depending on where you look it says he's somewhere between £12k-£20k PW, regardless nothing we couldn't affordably triple if we really wanted to.

I've had that confirmed by well-known football insider, Simon Le Bon, of Duran Duran fame.

What's Hatate's first name and what wage is he on, I asked the pouting new romantic of yesteryear.

And Simon went:

So there you have it. It must be true.

Simon never get things wrong.

Unless he's sailing a yacht.

In which case he's a fucking disaster.

But I digress.

Clearly a very gifted and technical footballer. After what we have witnessed over the last couple of years it would be a breath of fresh air to have some technically good players in the middle of the park!

If the manager wants him and we support him in going for him, it’s a good sign we’re looking to actually support the manager.

Why would that be in his contract? Surely when your scouting potential the Premier League is your potential biggest sell on market.
