Infantino won. Wow. Huge shock as everyone was expecting the sheikh to win. Thank fuck he didnt though. Those human rights abuses should have disqualified him from the start.

Only 3 votes from the 34 outliers went to the Sheikh. I'd have thought he would have gotten many of Prince Ali's votes.

I do wonder what's going to happen with the 2022 WC. They should do a revote between the US and Austrailia. But i'd say there's a 99.9% chance it stays in Qatar and moves to the winter with a .1% chance it's given to the US.

Unfortunately, it's probably too late to do anything with the 2018 WC.

Not going to change the world cup venues, all we can hope is that the next voted venue is 100% fair.

From his manifesto:
"A term limit of a maximum of 12 years (3 x 4 years) should be introduced for the FIFA President and Council members."
Okay, Gianni. Please tell me this again when you're still president in 20 years.

They can only sit a maximum of 3 terms so doesn't have to be consecutive,

And he came over from Uefa not FIFA, and has there been any controversy around him? I couldn't find anything

Oh goody. A 40 team world cup. Why? "Create more excitement." I cant wait to be on the edge of my seat when Cuba faces Germany in the group stage:rolleyes:

Oh and sweet lip service to the women's game
"• Women’s football: Continued and intensified efforts will be made to promote the women’s game. The growth potential is enormous and FIFA shall be a leading force in making sure that football seizes this opportunity. "
So nothing about how they still use turf pitches in international play?

From FIFA point of view he is an outsider so hopefully he brings in a different attitude.
Word from people that know him is that he is quite a stand up guy, he has made some promises during his campaign to get elected but that is the same the world over.
I would imagine if he had plans to bring in far reaching transparency throughout the organisation he'd have kept it under his hat during the election so we can hope there's a lot to come from him.

Infantino on Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022: 'There's been a lot of speculation, a lot of allegations, but not a single fact, in 6 years'.

I've got the sneaky feeling we won't be seeing a reformed FIFA anytime soon.
