Mate what has he got to change? We have got our injuries and no one can do anything about that. But our defence has been shit since Toby & Jan departed which is about 4 different managers ago now. Levy done fuck all about that. And without Bents and Bissouma as back up we are now completely screwed in midfield. Make no mistake our season is fucked. That’s not Conte’s fault - it’s the fucking owners.
Erm he could easily drop Son because he's been shit 0laying with his back to goal, or he could let Son play wider and run in behind.. Or he could stop playing an archaic system that relies on a good defence, when we have a shit defence.

Remember, this is the manager that we were told has genius patterns of plays in his system, that the squad will know inside out... All he needs is a pre-season.

Pffft. Its a shit system. He's wasting Kane and Sons final years together.

Based on what? Not once did we test their clown keeper, Magnian will be back for the 2nd leg
Based on the fact Milan are a bang average team.

Based on the fact that we will have home advantage.

Based on the fact despite us not being brilliant currently, we should still have far too much for them in the 2nd leg.

We were average tonight, it was two average teams up against each other.

We will be better at home which is why I believe we will get the job done.

All great points mate although one reason I’m now quite against this system is that it is so so reliant on the players available, whereas take Arsenal for example, Jesus is out, Nketia slots in and they play the same way and still create loads of chances and score lots of goals and dominate games.

As you rightly point out, we’d likely look a bit better if Porro was more up to speed and Udogie was back and hit the ground running and if we had Bentancur back and if we had someone more creative behind Kane and Son etc etc but at the same time if we changed the system and style of play we’d look completely different.

Heck the football and results under Mason barring the Carabao Cup final were actually pretty decent and resembled Pochball with a worse squad than the one Conte now has.

For me the balance between results vs style of play and enjoyment is way way off and unless Conte wins the FA Cup this season it won’t have been worth it and even then I’m not sure how worth it it will have been as for the best part of a 9 month season 80% of it has been unwatchable.

And for those reasons : “I’m out”.
*Unless we can regularly play like we did vs Man.City or at the end of last season but I just can’t see it*

I think Conte has a 18-24 month window you need to capitalise on with serious backing and he builds momentum and wins you something then moves on.

I think best for all parties if we part ways this summer and we get a coach in who plays football we want to watch not like our last 3 bloody appointments. ?

They took a few season to get that depth for that system. It will take time with us as well, but I'm not a fan of the 343.

If Conte wants the wing backs to push right up the pitch I just fear we will will have no space with the 3 forwards all squashed together.

I would rather see 2 up front with Kulusevski or someone in behind them. Then the 2 wing backs push up so we attack as a 3232 and defend as a 532 (if sticking with 3 at the back)

They aren't bang average, just out of form.

Still think we will get through and that's all that matters

Maignan, Bennacer and Tomori could return for them for next match, it could be much harder for us to score.

Whatever Levy's numerous faults are, whatever weaknesses we have in the squad, it's squarely on Conte why we have zero idea how to play football beyond hopeful crosses and set pieces and rapidly resemble the football of a Tony Pulis or Big Sam. His Plan A rarely works these days, and our tactical identity and structure (especially in possession, when having to break a team down) is non-existent.

Of course but we just look so flaccid. All fart and no poo. Can’t defend, don’t look like we know how to attack. We look scared and look like playing is a chore and the players are scared. There‘s no bravery. Why he can’t just try and change tactics or formation during a game though, I just dont understand. As an opposing manager it must be so obvious how we are going to play and therefore easy to play against. Tonight the prime example. The Milan manager saw we were coming into the game and changed suit after half time but Conte did nothing to counteract that and we kept doing the same thing over and over again. Why’s he so inflexible? it just makes zero sense.

Something we couldn’t do against a weak keeper with a dodgy ankle

I don’t see how some of you thought that was a good performance, they seemed fully aware that letting us have the ball 40 yards from their goal was fine as we have zero creativity

They will do the same in the second leg. Can’t see us scoring more than them unless we happen to get an early Worldie and they panic

That looked easy for them defensively tonight and bar a couple of sitters and a heavy touch from Leao it would be all over already

Defence is rubbish but that doesn't explain why we're playing an out of form Son week after week, playing him the exact same passes with his back to goal that every single team knows we're going to do so presses the shit out of him, forcing him to turn it over.

Nor does the rubbish defence explain why we never ever change our system or patterns of play at any point in any game regardless of the opposition or the game-state (except the occasional "throw on 3 forwards" when we're really fucking desperate).

Conte deserved a proper CB or two but his managerial performance this season simply hasn't been good enough either IMO. A lot of this is on Levy, but Conte deserves his share of the blame too.
Mate, I agree to a point but if you have a shit defence, a shit midfield and an out of form Sonny & Kulu then you can only expect one outcome. Shit performances week after week. I’m sick of changing managers and expecting anything different though.

Remember, an out of form pl team beat the champions elect a few seasons ago. Form means fuck all I. Knock out competition
