Ade works for Spurs. He is not a serial killer.

Edit: HaHa an "optimistic" rating he is not a serial killer?

Ade works for Spurs. Same as all the other mugs who work for somebody else. He is not a serial killer.

How many bosses do you know would allow you to fuck off to Ghana to see a witch doctor and pay you a hundred grand?

He may not be a serial killer. But mein gott. Talk about stealing a living.

Unless they are about to change the law-firms are obliged to pay your wages if you are unfit to work.
Silly rule-let's change it, eh?

Imagine you telling your boss you can't come in work today because you forgot to salute a magpie.

See where that gets you.

It doesn't matter whether Ade is onside with Poch. I still just think he's got no on field discipline to play to the pressing game. He just wants to play his own individualistic style, the way Redknapp and Sherwood were happy to embrace, but Poch wants an army marching as one, with the striker as the trigger man.

Not quite the same, but mental health is incredibly misunderstood and mismanaged in the workplace.

As we don't actually know the terms of his contract, I'd say it's safe that anyone who worries about it is only winding themselves up.

Additionally, for every £100k a footballer 'earns', around 55% of it goes back into the system as tax and national insurance (provided they are on PAYE), so each year Adebayor's tax contributions pay for the salary of about 104 nurses, in theory!

A fair point but I imagine in principle most footballers probably set themselves up to be as tax efficient as possible and probably operate as Adebayor ltd writing off any expenses and paying themselves as a limited company

I'm basing it on Tevez, really. All you need to go is google image search "tevez wage slip" to see copies his pay slip(s), so I'd assume that it's the minority that try and avoid taxes? That and the IR35 tax rules making footballers quite high risk targets?

I doubt many of those wage slips are real... it would be easy to fake and highly confidential. There's nothing to say I am right and you are wrong but these guys have shrewd agents around them managing their affairs.

As per things like IR35 though, I can also see that there is far too much money in the Premier League (probably more than the Google/Amazon tax avoidance) for them to not be doing things straight up. Would a club also risk it, especially after what happened with Rangers?

I also don't know whether Adebayor's supposed charitable contributions would help offset some tax in a normal way

Those words and other quotes out today don't sound like those of a man going anywhere. He will be with us until the end of the season and more than likely until the end of his contract.

So no new striker for us.

Unless he plays like he did this time last year, in which case we'll have a better striker than any available to us on the market (imo)

No I have seen Ade press a great deal, more than Soldado and unlike Soldado he has the physique and athleticism to hold the ball up well.

I noticed in the game that Ade was able to win balls in the air in the box and provide knock downs for Kane, something you won't get with Soldado.

I agree but he won't. Well, you can't rely on him to and that's the problem with him. He's just not reliable enough to take up a squad place, especially when the £100k a week could be used to go towards a striker who would more than likely be.

The one thing you get with 'in-form' Ade is the same thing you get with Bale - we'd play rubbish for 80 mins, then suddenly he'll smash one in from 35 yards out of nowhere. It's all about getting him back into that frame of mind, and with his career potentially in the balance, I have a feeling he might just put 100% effort in.

I literally don't care what he wants to do, go or be like in the summer - if he can help us win something or sneak fourth in perhaps what seems like the most open opportunity in years, then I'm all for him

I don't think they are doing anything illegal but they will likely be as tax efficient as possible or use limited companies to manage their tax. Nothing dodgy just what you expect from Rich people being greedy...

I think people better get used to the idea that Ade will be here until his contract runs out. No one will take him with his wage demands and baggage. With that in mind there is no point booing him and no point in Pochettino ignoring him.

We'd be better off finding someone willing to take Soldado off our hands in order for us to get a new striker. Although unfortunately that's probably quite optimistic as well.

Ade rarely scores from 35 yards and rarely out of nothing. Agreed his contribution, when available for selection which isn't any where near enough considering his wages, has been more valid than soldados. I think that is most peoples problem with him, he is so capable but he just can't be bothered to do what a Drogba has done and actually effect games in a big way. One of the pundits said recently that with his physique and technique he should be at Real or Barcelona but due to his mentality he is at Tottenham. That is so true and sadly I can't see it ever changing.

The fact is we need him on side and performing until we can sign someone better which is difficult because he has all that potential to be great.
