He will be part of the 25 as he has not been at Spurs for 3 years prior to his 21st birthday.

Incorrect. A home grown player is a player trained for 3 years prior to his 21st birthday by any club in the English football league system.

How old is he then?

1990, he qualifies as U21 both this season and next.

He will be part of the 25 as he has not been at Spurs for 3 years prior to his 21st birthday.

Apparently there's no such rule in the Premier League,
so he'll not have to be registered to play PL football.
However, in the Champions League he'll need to be registered to play due to him not having been with us for 2 years.

hm don't think it was talk of home grown status.
It was whether Kyle Walker qualifies as an U21 or not,
home grown players are just a case for the players among the 25 registered senior players. It doesn't matter whether the unregistered U21 players are home grown or not

I'm not saying it was a great period, but we have to be grateful for small mercies - he was about 5f7" no?

 Only kodding, Dan.
I'm not sure how tall, or, more appropriately, short he was.
I tend to blame the manager who brings a player in rather than the player himself...if a team wants to buy you, and it's a step up (and, usually, an increase in wages), you can't actually blame the player for signing the deal. And with most, but not all, players, I stringly disbelief the notion that they aren't trying. Some players jsut aren't good enough for the level they are playing.

cheers for comments

the height is a problem i grant, but maybe he's still growng

anyone know how tall he is *

checked wiki - says 5ft 10 - a bit taller than perry i think, but agreed another inch might help, and as a 20 year old male you can grow another inch quite easily i think

i'll check that too now

re th registration, i thought under 21 was enough, so he could play without being in the 25

if the CL is a problem, we don't need to register him for that obviously

tho it might be wise too, given his versatility

however i think hudd who would be reg could probably do a good in some euro games if necessary

anyway it seems the view overall is keep kyle

hope harry and danny agree

It is. He doesn't turn 21 this season so he can be one of the 'additionals'.

If they want a Kyle, Id prefer to send them Naughton since he's 21 already and not as good as Walker who wouldn't take up a place...

apparently males can grow a bit after 19/20 - so he may make 5ft 11

which would make him one inch taller than puyol (5 10) and two inches taller than cannavaro (5 9)

Does that mean Walker, Townsend, Bostock, Parrett, Mason, Caulker, Livermore, Kane, adam smith and Obika could all be left out of the squad and still play? That sounds pretty good considering the talent amongst that group. If all could go out on loan with the option to come back it would be ideal in terms of giving them game time. None should play below the championship however as it would not help them at this stage. Those that are 19, 20 and turning 21 need to be in the top half of the championship or even in the prem if possible. I think Blackpool would be a great option as they have a manager who likes to play football and they need players.

Taarabt and Dos Santos now being 21 are interesting decisions. Are they worth 2 of the 25 picks? You'd have to asume the squad will be made up of 3 keepers, 8 defenders, 8 midfield, 4 strikers and 2 extras (utility men or additional forwards)

Keepers - Gomes, Cudicini, Alnwick (or replacement as Harry doesn't seem keen)
Defenders - BAE, Bale, Corluka, Kaboul, King, Dawson, Bassong
Midfield - Modric, Kranjcar, Huddlestone, Lennon, Palacios
Forwards - Defoe, Keane, Pav, Crouch

+6 from Woodgate, Hutton, Naughton, Bentley, Rose, Sandro, O'Hara, Jenas, Dos Santos, Taarabt

Basically we are already 4 players over without buying anyone but if the expected moves happen i.e. Hutton, Jenas, Taarabt, O'Hara, Keane, Naughton (possible loan) and Woody retires we'll have space for the 3 signings harry talked about

What age is Rose? Does he qualify U21?
