Harry's mentioned that he likes Young and tried to sign him last summer, I really can't see us not bidding for him this summer. I think he'd suit our style of play and he'd really give us options on both wings. Get him in.

I think he'll go to Liverpool. They pay higher wages and are arguably more upwardly mobile than us right now.

Which is a shame. Imagine an attacking midfield of Young, Bale and Lennon - we'd be incredible on the counter attack

Shame that with some of the best passers in Europe in Modric and Huddlestone that we play possession football so much.

A counter attack player or two is useful, but only weak teams set themselves up to purposely play on the break.

You mean like the treble winning Utd side of 1999?

Is that a joke? He is a poor mans Defoe at best. He can't even get into Villas team at them moment.

Regarding Gabby Ag....

He's quicker and has better first touch than Defoe. so my opinion is he's already better than Defoe.

I think he can and will improve with HR guiding him. I envisioned given the chance he'll improve to become as good player for us like Bobby Zamora for Fulham.

That he can't get into Villas team is a plus cause it'll be easier for us to sign him. If.

But so was BEntley and we 'broke' him. Still think Young would be a great signing though.

Well he does play for a average team

Villa is about his level, the 5th-8th kind of bracket. Although I think he'll get the gig at Liverpool purely because they have no genuine wide players whatsoever.

He's quite clearly not average

Maybe average is harsh, I rate him as a 6.75/10 player, he's generally accepted as a decent player - no more no less. I find this board strange, it's like every Ashley Young fan has grouped together and decided this is their new home. If I were an outsider who doesn't know a thing about football I'd be thinking he's up there with Ronaldo given the way he's spoken about on here.

I'd take him as cover/competition for Lennon and Bale at the right price aslong as it doesn't effect our pursuit of players we actually need, although this would make the Pienaar signing look even more pointless than first thought.

I still think he is massively overrated.

His crossing is probably worse than Lennon's yet Lennon will get criticised all day long for his and for some reason Young gets none.

I still think his better games have seen him playing off the front man rather than down the wing. Diving little prick who lives on a reputation he really doesn't deserve.

Guys all the AShley Young bashers need to look at his goals and assists over teh last few years to see he is an excellent player, and is productive. As an example, He scores more than Lennon, assists more than Lennon. I like Lennon, but how we can bum and blow about him and then question Ashley Young somewhat baffles me.
2007/08 season - 39 Apps, 9 goals, 17 assists
2008/09 season - 48 Apps, 9 goals, 14 assists
2009/10 season - 49 Apps, 9 goals, 16 assists
2010/11 season - 34 Apps, 8 goals, 12 assists

If Lennon or Bale had those stats we'd be hailing them as gods.
