I hate being complete and utter favourites for any match.

2nd v last, should be a convincing win but if they score first, as most teams have against us recently, then that slight doubt may pop into the players' minds. 3 games without a win is a bit alien for us this season so my worry is it may affect us mentally but with what should be a very fresh front 6, I'm hoping for a 3-0 or 3-1 victory.

I've put money on us to win by 4 and/or 5 so nobody else need bother as this pretty much guarantees it won't happen.

Absolutely has to be a win, and hopefully a pretty convincing one.

It's an odd one, I want us to utterly annihilate them, but the bigger the margin of victory the more it will prove we could have got three points with the team sent out on Thursday and not chucked away the EL with a second string.

That line-up was more than about just Villa. Carrying on in that tournament would have wrecked our league form for sure. Yes it would be nice if we had a deep enough squad to handle more than one major tournament at the business end of the season, but we don't.

I'm only interested in the league at this point, and beating Villa is absolutely vital. Hammering them would be even better (although I get the feeling we'll make a meal of it).

I've never been hostile to the Europa, myself. It's how you get used to juggling Europe and the league - we were poor in our league games after Euro matches during our one CL foray (if my memory serves me correctly). And, frankly, it is the one thing we can hold over the Goons when they start their BS - so widening the Euro trophy gaps all good to me. And in regard to this season, I had money on us to win it during the summer - so I wouldn't easily see it mugged off.

But Thursday night was kinda inevitable, really. Dier clearly needs a break...and he's not alone. Dortmund are, basically, where we are aspiring to be. I don't think the team we sent out was that inferior to the one that absolutely spanked Monaca at the Lane. But Dortmund are just clearly on a different level. What is more important than the result is that the gaffer will have learned a lot from it. No point in playing the blame game, IMHO. And if it strengthens our outside chance at the title it's all good in my book.

The other thing is, I think this is right about Villa. No-one should just be chalking it off as three points and an opportunity to increase the goal difference. There must be some professional pride in there with at least a fair number of their players, and whoever it kicks in against will have to fight for anything they get. It could just be us. Not sure how much it will be us making a meal of it or them showing some professional pride, which is the minimum we expect every week, but I'm quite wary of them TBH.

On the other hand, we may smash their granny... :)

I can't believe people have suggested we rest certain key players. I don't care who we're playing, this is football, anything can happen and if we fail to win we could be 8 points away from Leicester and only 2 points away from Man City. Massive game.

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested Eric Dier could miss the match against Aston Villa through injury. #THFC

Pochettino: "We will see. It was a problem with his ankle, but we will see." #THFC

Pity he hadn't picked up a tactical booking, surprised we didn't manage it that way. Could of planned to play him away to Dortmund, and at home if needed be, and then he could of rested up until Liverpool away.

Might even still be in the tie against Dortmund as well.

If Dier is out, I do hope we play Alli and Dembele in the middle:

Lloris
Walker Toby Wimmer Rose
Alli Dembele
Lamela Son Eriksen
Kane

Id take your unhappiness of that scenario if offered me right now!

Championship team could beat us if we are not fully prepared and take it easy. They are shit but let's not underestimate them.

That said, I predict a 3-0 for us.

Just an advance reminder to the SC suicide squad. City Villa was 0-0 at HT last week.. no need to slit your wrists until full time
