Sounds like the atmosphere was much better last night and if that carries through for the rest of the season then AVB will have got it right in having a pop at the fans.

If the atmosphere does continue to improve though, AVB can officially remove the crowd from his list of possible excuses if we continue to have problems.

I didn't think it sounded paticularly amazing, but was certainly better. Obviously on tv/a stream it's nothing like being there. However I do remember the brilliant reaction of they scored their second and the push for an equaliser, and then even more noise after Kane scored and we were pushing for the winner - THAT was proper 'suck the ball into the goal' type noise.

And as others have said, the chance to boo and jeer during the penalties must've been brilliant fun - not often fans get to do that. And at the opposite end to the Hull fans too!

The atmosphere was better, but certainly not amazing.

Seville at home was one occasion where the atmosphere that night will stay with me forever. 1882's first ever outing was much better than last night, even if some of adhoc chants last night were funnier.

And I don't think the corner of the Park Lane/Shelf were particularly great last night either, mainly I believe because of the very significant mums, dads and small children in that section of the ground. There did seem to also be a little bit of laziness in the section from the regulars, mainly just waiting for 1882 to start a chant and join in rather than starting up chants like we do every non-1882 home game. Some chants were started, but 1882ers seemingly over-sung those with their own chants, so maybe that didn't help. Not always, but that certainly happened on a few instances.

Yeah, the atmosphere was better but felt a little contrived and slightly false. I know that sounds weird but that's how it felt.

I still maintain that the best way to improve the atmosphere at home is by playing more adventurous and high tempo football rather than trying to strangle the game.

There was nothing contrived or false about the fans actually getting behind the team when Hull scored both of their goals.

Had it not been for AVB's controversial but much needed comments on Sunday, then there is a good chance that the atmosphere would have turned very ugly at both junctures. Not good for anyone. Other than Hull.

So job done already, I'd say.

Yeah, fair enough. I still think a lot of it is to do with the way we've been playing at home for some time. There's been many occasions in the past where we have been playing a higher tempo and more exciting game, gone behind and the crowd have responded and got behind the team. All without prompting from the manager. But anyway, better support can only be a positive thing.

Was well loud on the telly, innit. To quote my girlfriend, who knows nowt about football bar: "Where are you playing?" "At home" "Really? Why's it so loud?"

The positive singing when we went 1-2 down was quite something

Aren't we supposed to have a no excuse culture now.

Winners take responsibility, losers make excuses.

The 1882 corner stimulated the great atmosphere, even singing through half time. The Park Lane responded and altogether produced a brilliant occasion. Definitely an argument for safe standing.
The support when we went behind was amazing. My 11 year old was with me at the front of block J and had a great experience, it reminded me of the early 80's. Great stuff.

Personally, I loved doing the slow clap (you can hear me start it at 8:22 on this! ).

If done well, and properly slow, that must be much more off-putting than any booing or waving!

Worthless cup? Sounds worthless to me.

To all those that say that we should improve our football etc to give the crowd something to sing about... How many times have we seen, especially abroad, opposition teams that we are beating, playing crap football and yet still bounce and make more noise than you could believe.

Bitch and moan after the game, during you make as much noise as possible IMO.

Indeed, after all we are all supposed to be supporters.

Apart from the weekend about the atmosphere not helping, although I do feel that was a ploy.

He said what needed saying, its been getting worse at the lane for several seasons and it needed to be said. How the hell that can be called whinging is beyond me.

Anything negative can be defined as a whinge. Just because some feel something needs to be said doesn't stop it being a whinge.

You can whinge even if the winge needs to be said and is still fully justifies, it is still a whinge.

A whinge after all is to complain and complain is exactly what he did.
