I think Reece James highlighted what we could have done with at right wing back yesterday.

Strong, dynamic and excellent delivery.
He is the reason TAA won’t start for England at the World Cup . Shut down Sonny and also Kane at times.
Sonny just not with it at the moment. Standby for a hat trick v Wolves.

I'd agree if they were carving out chances but they basically just dominated the pitch and didn't create much. No point stifling a non attacking threat surely?
not at all you have to an element of control in a game we couldn't get out they were dominating the ball and territory we were reacting neither Kulu or Son were in the game and our wing backs were hemmed in - we had a few chances on the break but it was never comfortable - they have weaknesses lack of pace at the back, no centre forward and they want to push up out wide but we couldn't exploit none of them

They played us off the park for the vast majority of the game. The pleasing aspect is we hung in there and stole that point at the death. The fact they were so incensed made our thievery all the funnier.
My point is about the mentality. We had them scared about us all week, hence them racing out of the blocks at us. And then they were rattled the whole game, to the point where their manager lost all composure. We were in their heads, and we didn't stop until we got that equaliser.

I've seen discussions about how good Fergie actually was. Yesterday was an example of what Fergie teams did. Had teams scared of them because they never ever gave up and battered their way to points if needs be.

Tuchel was reduced to a stropping child by us and Conte.

mate they did raise their game but they battered us - apart from the incident on the side we never really got close to them football wise - we had a few decent chances but we had no control in the game for the most part and all the best performers wore blue shirts - I don't think we rattled them they would have been frustrated by the result and the ref understandably I think
Again, mentality, not the footballing prowess. Good football didn't get us that point, sheer fucking bollocks got us it. And that's what I'm loving. Anything that reduces that lot to a tantrum is a plus for me.

They didn’t batter us at all! They had more of the ball but how many shots did Hugo actually have to stop. If anything apart from Sterling we had the better clear cut chance. Possession doesn’t win games.

I think it has become quite evident quite quickly that the success, or at least improvement on last season, will rely on how well Bissouma and Perisic can integrate themselves into the starting 11 and start performing to their potential.

I would prefer to look at the performance as a barometer rather than the result. On average our performance over the season will tally up to results unlike today.
But we should also look at the spirit and the attitude which is what got us the draw.
I take your point but if we can improve and I think we agree we can, the we have to take yesterday as a plus.
FWIW it may be that Bisouma may have been a more solid choice than Bentancur in a game like that but I understand why we went how we did. Early days but I suspect we'll make decisions like that as the season continues.

I’ll never understand the mindset of not just filming an opponents corner kick but to then keep on filming after we’ve scored and then upload it to social media…

It’s utter madness, but I do like seeing them fall silent

sorry I don't really agree its a good point earned but we never rattled them at any point - Tuchel's tactics outdid Conte we were extremely fortunate to get a couple of decisions that I don't think anyone would have argued with if they had gone against us - the reaction at the end was more to do with his frustration at the ref than anything else and maybe they don't like each other -

as I say a welcome point but it wasn't a moral victory more of a wake up that we still have a way to go

Maybe I misunderstood your point as you said stifle. I assumed you thought they were threatening

Not sure if its been mentioned on here but all the crying about the supposed foul on Havertz. Im assuming the reason that VAR didnt check was because Chelsea had regained control of the ball AFTER the Bentancour tackle but they messed the clearance up.

Objectively soeaking, it is an extremely important thing culturally for Germans to make eye contact when shaking hands with peers. My German colleague coincidentally told me about this a few weeks ago when we were at a conference. It's customary in most cultures, but especially so in Germany, apparently. Suspect the heated atmosphere brought this to the fore for Tuchel.

Then why the fvck didn't he look Conte in the eye?

Agree, sadly not many great RWBs out there, James, TAA, Cancelo(when he plays on that side), Hakimi and then everyone else is at least a level below them (probably forgetting someone). Pavard, Livramento, Walker, Lamptey and few others are pretty good but it's hard to find quality wing backs (and full backs). Taking punts on the likes of Spence is probably a good strategy.

possession doesn't win games of course not but we had no control of the game they dominated us - the German lad should have scored we made quite a few last ditch blocks Sterling probably should have done better - we had a couple of chances on the break and Kane would score that 9 times out of ten but our midfield wasn't in the game neither were our wide men and for a lot of the game we couldn't get out.

If you compare that to the Liverpool game where we always had an element of being in control of the game despite their possession it wasn't like that yesterday we were fortunate you take it but they controlled the game and gave us a bit of a battering in my view

Yet the 4-2-4 was a major part in getting us back in the game. It opened the game up and created chaos in a game that was too orderly.

However, I thought Conte made a major mistake not fixing that after it went 1-1. In any case it's likely we will see it again, Conte did as much as say so in his press conference. But it's a system we need to learn.
I had the same thought at the time but replays show Conte was aware of this and had Perisic and Bissouma lined up and ready to come on just before they scored their second.
I doubt James would’ve had that amount of time and space to score if we’d been able to get those two (particularly Perisic) on the pitch in time

I do wonder if Conte would have used 3 in CM if Bissouma was fully fit or Skipp wasn't crocked. Bentancur and Hojbjerg were chasing shadows most of the game and we couldn't get near Jorghino. That type of possession leads to our wingbacks being pushed back, and crucially, our front line failed miserably to put any pressure on their back line before Richarlison came on. Even with an extra man in CM though they wilted by the end which is a testament to the work our CM pairing in particular got through.
