4-2-3-1....

Worst formation to have started with.

4-3-3 or 4-4-2....

Why do we persist with such a shit formation that just simply doesn't work for us.

I love Lamela but he can be selfish and a little too showboaty at the wrong times. Pass and move, especially against a Chelsea side bang in form. Until the first goal we were doing well. Even had more possession at times. First was great play by them but 2nd was down to Hugo who looks nervous since that moment.

I'm very proud of the boys. We played very well and have been organised and there's been good harmony to our game overall.

Pressing well from the front and should have created a goal out of the chances we've had.

We picked up from where we left off on sunday which shows poch has a team here that can carry out his instructions to a large degree and are 'getting it'.

This is a step in our evolution and another strong one imo.

We probably won't get anything out of this game score wise but we will in substance as it's a good work out for the style/mentality poch is trying to implement.

I'm full of hope for where we're going now. It's tangible.

Thought the first 15 was good. Good tempo creating chances.

Difference is that Chelsea had their spell of possession and chances and scored.

I don't think we have played that badly but you have to tip your cap to a great team sometimes.

As for the Lamela bashing, I think it's a bit harsh. Verts is having a tough time against Drogba, lloris was arguably at fault for both goals and chiriches needs to be shot so I am not sure why people stress on Lamela so much.

You go away to a team flying like Chelsea you need your keeper on top of his game - unfortunately Hugo has not been boss tonight.

Obviously I'm watching a different match to most people, I thought we've been pretty good against a team with far superior players.

Fairly level on possession and chances, nice passing, good pressing. We're separated by a bad kick from Lloris and a quality goal that not many teams in the league could have done much about.

Certainly don't see what everyone is bitching about with Lamela he's certainly been no more sloppy than Mason or Kane for instance. I can only assume we have a lot of accountants in our fanbase, more worried about the amount he cost and the bottom line than actually supporting the guy.

Lamela is getting slated because he's not sticking to the left or chasing back.

Both might not be his fault, they could be instructions, we'll find out if he gets subbed early on.

No-one is attacking Ivanovic and making him defend, therefore he is constantly causing problems for us.
He's not sticking to the left because he's playing in the middle predominantly. , are you even watching the game.

We get Kane's goal at the start, whole different ball game.

I'll admit it, this was my fault lads. I said we were going with AVB's defense. That means an extraordinary amount of goals from mistakes and blowouts galore. :(

Why is Lamela getting slated so much?

From posters that are normally rational too, disappointing.

He's been involved a lot and had a good few moments.

Eriksen and Lennon if we are naming and shaming then have been anonymous

I think he is just symbolic of the disappointment fans are feeling at present.

I think we also need to get Kane to drop a bit deeper so he can get stuck in a bit more. He was everywhere against Everton and looked lively at the start tonight.

Next goal is crucial but you have to fear whether Chelsea step up a gear or two because our defence will always gift chances.

Lamela does deserve a level of increasing criticism considering he has still failed to live up to the huge price tag along with lackadaisical tracking back but on tonight's showing you have to look at the likes of Lennon and Eriksen who have gone missing too.

Soldado won't change this outcome IMO and we desperately need to get a foothold in midfield and try to stifle Hazard, Fabregas et al.

Got a laugh at people on here, Chiriches Lloris Mason Lennon Eriksen and Kane's finishing have been poor yet it's Lamela that gets all the negative posts.

Fucking agendas on here is pathetic

Bit harsh on Kane haha, hasn't he only had one shot and one header against the bar? Chiriches, Lloris and Mason need to up their games, Soldado on at 60 if we're not looking more threatening. Would take Lamela off for him if it carries on, not necessarily cause he's been poor but I think we need Eriksen to see more of the ball and that doesn't seem to happen when Lamela plays in the middle

Anyone but Chelsea or City and we would be giving them a decent game, we still look committed and organised, it's fucking frustrating and not a great feeling but there are still plenty of green shoots on display.

May seem strange but i dont think the gap is so huge. Chelsea are very settled right now, and we started how we finished against Everton with slick passing and interceptions, but once they got into the game they began to snuff out our passes and we looked too static. Id like to think a bit more time and training this team could match a chelsea team like this. We may fall short as we dont have a Hazard, but we could match them over the rest of the park.

Drogba is a cheating MF .... Spurs look out of sorts. Get Chadli on and get Lamela off.... I still have this down as 4- nil..

Maybe this high intensity pressing game is very draining on the physique so perhaps thats why we cant keep it going for the full ninety but instead drop off with about 20 mins to go.
They might be shattered after sundays efforts we are not as mentally tough as Chelsea who are used to winning things and big games, thats not a critisism more an observation.

Difference was Bale was 17.

and Bale put his head down, worked his arse off and transformed from a skinny kid to one of the fittest footballers around. Sadly, I've zero hope of Lamela following in Bale's footsteps.
