No he's our wing forward until JR comes in. Our biggest problem in attack last season was when the centre forward links up play we didn't have a wide attacker get into the box for the cross. The Ade/Chadli combination works similar to Rodriguez/Lambert.

I wonder if Soldado and Chadli will be able to play as effectively together as Ade and Chadli. I'm guessing no. In fact with those two I'd rather have Soldado at the top of the box either laying it off to Chadli himself or laying it off to wingers to feed Chadli. I hope to hell Soldado and Chadli manage to find a groove, because Soldado'll likely be our main Forward in January.

(btw- who is that in your avatar?)

At the beginning of the season there was a thread saying we needed a 4th striker. I don't think we do.

Ade, Soldado and Kane can all play the striker role. We also have Chadli and Lamela who can play similar to an inside forward.

Chadli has shown an eye for goal since joining and as we play better as a team we'll see him score more often. No need to change his position.

If they repeat scoring against Liverpool then maybe but please don't get carried away with the victory over qpr

If he was an Arsenal player I have no doubts that Wenger would utilize a guy with his skill set at the center forward position.

I agree with you @ebzrascal that he has some skills that could translate well to the position, especially from what I've seen of Pochettino's system.

I wouldn't mind if he was given a shot as the fourth forward behind Adebayor, Soldado, and Kane if we ever ran into injury or fitness trouble.

I am just saying that Chadli scored I think two league goals all season so maybe Lamela, Chadli etc will not be the answer for the goals we need and after September 1st we cannot change things.. I would rather have a surplus striker who is not required because no one gets injured or we are playing great than to have an injury crisis or strikers out of form and not have a replacement to come in....

If we played a 4-4-2 or a 3-5-2 I wouldn't have a problem playing Chadli or Lamela as forwards. Granted, it'd be more like a 4-4-1-1 or 3-5-1-1 but that's just formation semantics. Ultimately, I think they'd do a good job playing as the supporting forward alongside a player like Ade who can knock the ball down for them to run on to or hold it up for them. As a lone striker though, certainly not.

What we're doing now suits Chadli. Well, from the look of it against a really shit QPR side, but hopefully it's a sign of things to come. Ade likes to drift out on to the left hand side where he can open his body up to play on his stronger right foot. Chadli likes to cut in centrally and covers the space Ade leaves, exactly as he did for his first goal on Sunday. He's big enough to win the ball in the air too, which is a bonus. It's a good little tactic to play.

As far as i can see so far, nothing about Chadlis game is broken, so what are we trying to fix by fiddling with it?

He's enjoying playing out there, doing a superb job both going forwards and backward, which is great considering how weak we've looked on that flank for some time, scoring goals, finding space and making himself available... nope, don't see why we'd change that.

Leave him out there, we've got Soldado, Kane & Ade - if we can add to/improve on that in the window then great, but being honest, that should (on paper) be enough, when you chuck in how many goals we appear to be looking to create from midfield.

Okay, another probably stupid idea from me, but... I (literally) woke up at 1 this morning with this idea in my head. Fuck knows what my brain does whilst I'm sleeping lol.

Chadli is, I think, our leading EPL scorer. He's a big powerful beast, and imo most effective inside the box.

Kane is on fire. Plays much better behind a leading striker though.

Ade and Bobby have been a bit meh in front of goal.

I don't think anyone wants to drop the Great Dane, or Rabona Lamela.

So...

Lamela Ericsson Kane

Chadli

Is this nuts?

It's definitely an option - but Soldado should get a run playing with the league forwards before we resort to something like this.

I'd be going for:

Soldado

Eriksen/Chadli Kane Lamela

...at the moment, and give that a good 6-8 games and see how we get on.

Once you start playing a wide forward up front as a striker, in preference to your 2(3) players who are supposed to be specialists in that position, it puts you in dangerous territory. Your strikers will be insulted and get the hump, and if it doesn't come off the playing staff, media and fans will think you look like a bit of an idiot.

If we had injuries though I'd go for it, I'm pretty sure Chadli would be quite effective in that position, as he's got height, power, good movement and a smart finish.
