He's a good squad player but I wouldn't have him as the no.1 first choice central striker.

Given an opportunity somewhere a bit lower in league (like Sunderland as stated above) he may well tap into his potential and prove that he should be but we're at the stage at the moment where he's just not proven enough for it to be us - unless he's happy to come sit on the bench, which he wouldn't be.

If we sign Welbeck we'll be a laughing stock. The guy's a typical product of the English game. Fast and strong but never developed the technical side of the game so his finishing is erratic and his touch is awful. On top of that he's a diving twat.

What's a bargain then ??
Name better forward that we can get cheaper than welbeck if he was available
15m ain't that much for a player like welbeck in today's football

Not got a dictionary? You seem to be confusing 'bargain' and 'gamble'.

Do you know how many players we've signed for £15m? Ever? Added to which United will almost certainly be paying him more than we do. £15m is a lot for a mediocre player we don't actually need right now.

You're funny, I was almost peeing but just had to cope with the tears streaming down my face.

So basically... you wanted to piss yourself but just started crying instead!!! Cool

Danny Welbeck is none of those things you seem to think he is, apart from young, he's slower than Chadli, a worse dribbler than Townsend and is as prolific as Michael Dawson.

Welbeck would walk into our team face it if we were lucky enough to get him... He scored double what Chadli did he's noway as bad as your going on and a big upgrade on our wide players and might turn into a great striker given a chance.

There is no way that we should pay £15,000,000 for a player who thinks he's a centre forward but only managed to score 20 goals, contribute 14 assists the 5000 minutes that he has amassed in his entire career.
JRod on the other hand know's he's a left wing forward and contributed 17 goals and 3 assists in 2900 minutes this season, then we have Loic Remy who played 2100 minutes this season, contributed 14 goals and 3 assists in a Newcastle team that were on the beach in March.

10 of welbecks goals came last season... Much better than any of our wide players this season and the same as eriksen

Both are cheaper, both a proven, both are more experienced and both don't have a profile, wage demands or ego that have been elevated by that red shirt he wears.

Now your just talking waffle how is Rodriguez more experienced than welbeck ??? Please

And are you Itk with transfer prices and wages about certain players because i always wanted to know how much Gary doherty would be available for.... my local pub team needs a few subs

Sigh, this is getting a bit tedious now, it isn't going to happen for numerous reasons so we've successfully dodged a mediocre bullet.

some of you should actually try watching Welbeck instead of basing your opinions on the pathetic media scapegoating.
I have watched a fair bit of him and I think it is fair to say his finishing leaves a lot to be desired, his decision making is poor and he is not good enough to lead the line for a club with CL aspirations. Even SAF agrees that he is not good enough to lead the line for a top side and that is the reason he brought in RVP.

I came to my opinion without the help of the brain trust that is the British sports media, he's pants...signing Welbeck would be like buying your girlfriend some lingerie from Next but paying Agent Provocateur prices.

If we're going to pay AP prices then I want AP underwear

People are a bit harsh on Welbeck. He's not great by any stretch of the imagination but he is quick, strong and works hard. His finishing let's him down but he is a useful player I'd take him 4 £8m or less. His versatility could be useful also

I have watched quite a lot of him and I prey we do not sign him. His first touch is pretty poor, his passing is not top notch and his finishing isn't exactly outstanding. He shouldn't even be in the England squad, yet alone team. He bring nothing that we do not already have better players doing.

It is absolutely criminal that Welbeck is keeping Lallana out of the England side. Lallana isn't WC, but he is a league ahead of Welbeck in terms of actually having end product.

Arsenal and Tottenham to battle for Danny Welbeck as Van Gaal says striker can leave Manchester United

Arsenal and Tottenham are lining up a bid for Danny Welbeck after Manchester United told the England striker he can leave Old Trafford.

Standard Sport understands both London clubs are interested in the £15million-rated player, who has scored 20 goals in 90 Premier League appearances for United and has just 18 months left on his contract.

Welbeck has become increasingly frustrated at Old Trafford, especially last season where he was frequently left on the bench even though his strike rate was impressive under David Moyes. That frustration has boiled over since the arrival of new boss Louis van Gaal, who has made it clear the 23-year-old winger (right) does not feature prominently in his rebuilding plans and can expect limited first-team appearances.

An Old Trafford source said: “Danny has an astonishing strike rate for United and he has now reached a stage where he deserves to be playing first-team football or else his England career will suffer as well.

“United are happy to let him go but would prefer it was to a club that won’t be fighting for a Champions League place by the end of the season.

“But the reality is that there are plenty of top clubs who will be very interested in signing Danny.”

Welbeck has the potential to be quality imo. Needs some games and love.

Pacey, works hard, can play wing forward or upfront. Scores goals whenever he plays in his favoured position.

Ding Ding, Round 5!

Fair to say that he is dividing opinion somewhat. As far as I'm concerned it's the Remy, Welbeck, Rodriguez sort of argument. Not really room for them all, so which one represents the best chance of success with us versus availability. Welbeck works his socks off - it's the United way and upbringing. I think people could be surprised.
