Welbeck is a total Poch player and would do well for us. Works harder than any forward in the league by some margin.

Yes, I agree with this. He's like Mister High-Press. That's what we saw him do at the WC, repeatedly recovering the ball for England by tackling opponents' defenders right up the pitch - something he apparently does more than anyone else in the prem (sorry got no actual stats but remembering the commentary). He catches defenders when they are not expecting any sort of tackle from anywhere.

Plus, he can play LWF which we need. And he gets some decent goals as a CF, would offer something different to Ade and Kane (I think Soldado would be the likliest sale to amke way for him tbh). And importantly, Welbeck doesn't mind playing for the team. He is still young and Poch could develop him.

Not that expensive - and without the medical worries over Remy. Take him, Poch please.

Jay Rodriguez was supposedly a waste of money in his first few months at Saints until Poch came.

That's what he's here to do, develop players. Welbeck is a rough diamond- there's a great player in there. All it takes is a bit of confidence.

I quite like Welbeck. I think if he was at any other club he'd be much more highly rated.

I think that if it was a choice between him and Remy it's a tough one. On his day Remy is the more explosive player certainly, but Welbeck is considerably more consistent and hard working.

As others have said, I reckon he'd be perfect in Poch's system so if he's available at the right price then I'd say go for it.

You're funny, I was almost peeing but just had to cope with the tears streaming down my face.

Danny Welbeck is none of those things you seem to think he is, apart from young, he's slower than Chadli, a worse dribbler than Townsend and is as prolific as Michael Dawson.

There is no way that we should pay £15,000,000 for a player who thinks he's a centre forward but only managed to score 20 goals, contribute 14 assists the 5000 minutes that he has amassed in his entire career.
JRod on the other hand know's he's a left wing forward and contributed 17 goals and 3 assists in 2900 minutes this season, then we have Loic Remy who played 2100 minutes this season, contributed 14 goals and 3 assists in a Newcastle team that were on the beach in March.

Both are cheaper, both a proven, both are more experienced and both don't have a profile, wage demands or ego that have been elevated by that red shirt he wears.
The most important thing though is that we should not be helping Man United by picking up their cast offs, if it was Mata, James Wilson or Nick Powell then I'd snap their hand off but because they're prospects or proven, Welbeck is neither.

So going by these numbers.

J-Rod scores or creates a goal every 145 minutes, starting every week.

Welbeck scores or creates a goal every 147 minutes, as a bit part player.

DW will also hugely benefit from getting a run of games, something he's never had.

Unbelievable some members on here, a fucking joke!! Welbeck would be a great signing, how anyone can say he is shit is absolutely ridiculous.
We are the biggest team in the work who are gong to win the league remember. We don't need any England players messing up out title challenge!

Where's the risk? He won't score 25 a season but u be the would get 15 goals and 10 assists. He's young. English, hard working. Amazed people think we are too good for him!

Although I have caned Welbeck all season, questioned him being in the England squad and generally not been impressed, there's a part of me who thinks that this would be a great signing!!

I'm of the opinion that he would be a fantastic signing. He has everything to be a success in the PL, like a lot of other players he just needs good coaching and faith shown in him. I'm all for it.

I suppose my one main objection to this would be if it meant we were completely writing off Chadli.

His arrival would presumably mean the end of Lennon or Townsend...or both.

I don't rate Chadli on the left, and I especially don't rate him with another trundler like Davies behind. Davies and Wellbeck I could see as a combination. Both good intelligent users of the ball , and Wellbeck's natural pace...

Welbeck is an interesting option for us. He is not a good finisher which is a drawback and i think his movement can be lacking.

But at the same time....the kid works his ass off all the time, he isn't a bad defender and he has a knack of being in the right place at the right time despite not being a clinical finisher. i have never heard any United supporter speak in any other manner than absolute praise about how hard the kid works. Just a "head down and get on with it" type of player.

Reminds me a bit of Jay Rodriguez when Poch got to Soton....Athletic guy who isn't a finished product but has a world class work ethic. Seems like the type of player who could fill the same role for us that Rodriguez did for Soton.

Would be an interesting signing depending on price.

or Poch could just work with Chadli and Townsend who are better if we are looking at talent to refine.
