Still not sure I'd start him in the league just yet. We did the right thing with Kane - plenty of Cup games building his confidence, and then release him in the PL whilst he's in hot form. Hopefully we'll do the same with Dele.

He's already had 70 odd games at senior level. He's already played man utd twice. What is he going to learn from cup games?
He needs premiership games. At the moment i'd start him and dier as the midfield 2.

Ready or not, and I believe he is ready, he is better than anything else we have at the moment taking in account form and injury. This kid is going to be a superstar.

So had Kane. Europe is an incredibly different experience to League 1 football, and did Kane the absolute world of good. Why throw him straight in to the PL where our fickle fans will pick him out as a weak link as they did with Bentaleb.

Other than the Dier part, an opinion that is your right, I think you've hit the nail on the head

Whatever happened to "if they're good enough they're old enough"?

I enjoy watching this guy. Always trying to make some thing happen. He seems to have an impressive all round game as well.

Where are you going to play him though?

He isn't a pivot CM, and he isn't creative enough to play as a no10.

He is a box2box midfielder like Paulinho.

Unless the manager adapts then he won't fulfill his undoubted potential.

Isn't it too early in his career to say he's one thing or another? He might be able to play box to box but he has plenty of goals in him by the looks of it and I could see him playing the type of role Gerrard did for a while behind the striker.

Maybe

But he has box 2 box written all over him to me, wasn't Gerrard at his best a B2B midfielder?

Perhaps he was but I seem to remember him being quite effective behind Torres (I think it was Torres anyway). I just wouldn't be surprised to see Alli given a more attacking role in the future, maybe even more Lampard than Gerrard although if he does reach that kind of level and attacking threat, we'll be fighting off bids left and right before too long.

I don't mean to put too much pressure on him by the way, but he really does look the real deal and with a bit of luck in a few years he'll be a key player for us.

He has been really really good, astonishingly good but his overall play in the last two games has been poor imo. I know he got the motm but I felt his passing let him down and his control at times today.

For me there are 2 aspects of his game which is beyond his years and that is his pressing/defensive work and his overall play in the final third. He does struggle with 2 banks of four in front of him and the ball at his feet but as soon as he gets near the box he is one of our most dangerous players and always a threat with his shooting

I think as long as he continues to pass his way out of trouble rather than play in the middle third he'll be a much better player. He's strong and fairly quick, but in the premier league, so are most players. He's finding out that he can't really knock it past players as easy as in league 1. I know he has it in him to play a composed game, so it's all about doing the basics first really.

I'm a huge Alli fan. Go back and read my post. I said he would get the same opportunity Kane did last year - injuries have given him even more opportunities. Once he proved capable, Poch would find room for him. He still has some inconsistencies in his game, but I love his upside, and would start him every week.

He doesn4t run, he floats around, doesn't shoot, he kisses the ball.

Very very good but the interesting bit is the post-match interview, he's a clever kid, and that's what will take him far in the game.

Sure. 2 months ago he didn't warrant a starting place over midfielders who had been doing a sterling job. In their absence he's shown himself more than capable, has taken his chance really well.

Not sure why you value my opinion so highly but my epeen certainly just throbbed a little, so thanks (y)
