Our man, Moussa Dembele was substituted around the 50th minute mark for Belgium tonight. A very unlikely time in a game to make a tactical substitution and I distinctly recall the last time he was on international duty he aggravated his hip, which then coincided with our bad run of form.

It goes without saying how critical he is to our already difficult race to finish in the top four this season. I know its straight after the game but has anyone got any more information on this?

I'd argue we would cope better now with Carroll, Holtby and Siggy now finding form than we did before but id rather not take the gamble.

Why is the 50th minute an unlikely time for a substitution? It should happen more often instead of waiting a standard 60 minutes.

You make a sub when it is required, or you should if you are a decent manager, just look at how Woy cocked it up last night, not making a substitution until it was too late.

I have often felt you give instructions at half-time and it doesn't take long to see if they have been heeded or id the opposition have made a tactical change which you must then counter or change your own game to take an opportunity.

Belgium have a lot of quality players, Dembele is not like Bale is in the Wales team, so I see nothing in his being substituted, merely a coach making a tactical switch before it's too late.

Incidentally it looked to me as if Bale was playing with the handbrake on last night. Hopefully its more to do with getting over the virus rather than his bad ankle.

He substituted himself.

He realised Spurs were more important than Belgium
