England's World Cup qualifier away in Ukraine on Saturday will be shown exclusively live to subscribers on the internet who will pay at least £4.99

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/8286886.stm

Are people actually going to pay five quid to watch a meaningless international against the Ukraine?! And the price is actually going to go UP nearer the date!

I've always thought competitive England internationals should be free to view, so I hate the idea. Especially because a fiver for one game seems stupidly expensive even if it was an HD tv broadcast, but it's a bloody internet stream!

I hope it fails miserably!

I'm sure i'll find a feed for it without paying £5. Its a meaningless game anyway, and if worst comes to worst i'll just wait until the highlights are on.

Exactly what I thought am quietly confident of finding a free stream for it. Not paying a fee ranging from £5 to £11.99 for it.

 The FA are describing it as "ground breaking". The only fucking reason you're doing it is because no tv company wants to pay for what is effectively another meaningless friendly. Morons!

It's not a meaningless friendly, it's a world cup qualifier.

But we have already qualified, so meaningless to the point that it doesn't matter much, granted.

Fucking piss take, £4.99 to watch that. Then it goes up to 9.99 on Thur, and then 11.99 on Fri.

I'll be damned if I'm watching it, streams are not as good as watching on the box.

I said effectively a meaningless friendly old chap  I can never really be bothered to watch England games anymore, so it's probably that apathy creeping in to my posts

Yeah I get ya dood.

I do watch the games, although half arsed, probably like how I watch spurs games at the moment too though.

I am looking forward to the world cup though!!

Um the FA had nothing to do with it. They don't control the rights to away games. Kentaro sold the rights to Setanta.

Yeah I'll be hooked again come the world cup. Maybe it's just international qualifiers generally that aren't very exciting, not just England's football.

Gotcha, I just heard the quote on the radio earlier, thought it was the FA.

Still a shambles, all other matches have been veiwable on TV, so why give this to a company that is going to charge...

I don't want to watch an england match sat at my computer, I want to watch it at the pub with loads of other fans....

Rarely watch England with any great enthusiasm outside of meaningful matches anyway, so no real issue for me. If I want to watch it, I'll just do as I do with most football....watch a free stream on the net

What a load of bollocks. As Shanks has already said, I don't think we should have to pay for it, let alone not be able to watch it on the telly box!!!

The way forward, I don't think so!!!

Because Setanta went under.

We have no power over the away matches. Setanta bid for all away matches and then collapsed. It may be that Kentaro had financial commitments off the back of the expectation of the Setanta money so it's understandable they will want to make some of the cash back.

It's unfortunate that the BBC, Sky or even ITV didn't win the rights to this game but that's just the way it is.

Odeon cinemas, including "The Odeon" (Leicester Square) will show it supposedly, so could go to the cinema to watch the football

I think after the game this will serve to be a fail worthy of failblog.org.

I can't quite fathom who would want to watch a meaningless England game on a rubbish internet stream, crouched uncomfortably around a computer screen and paying £5 for the privledge.

This must have cost the company a fortune. Maybe they bought it before we had qualified but still its a stupid move on a lot of counts.
