The way I look at nuno now is that he is just a caretaker manager until the legend comes back or we get someone decent.
I’m getting worried that this is exactly the plan.
After mucking around conte, we sounded out poch. Rumours were that he wasn’t happy at PSG. But his bosses weren’t about to let him leave so soon after hiring him.

I think levy has a plan in place to bring back poch by the summer at the latest- on the mistaken idea that this will make everything in the garden rosy.

Whereas I think we should be going hard for either potter or gallardo.

If Nuno decides to change careers he should consider delivering motivational speeches at undertaker conventions :cautious:

I would certainly agree with you there - I've warmed to the idea of Potter a lot. I'd add Gerrard and Parker to the list, too, if they keep performing well in their current clubs.

I don't, and have never, thought that Poch returning is the answer.

But I do think that's Levy's plan.

And in any case, Nuno is clearly a convenient stop gap who was available when we desperately needed to appoint someone to end the farce that was our manager search.

Probably a decent bloke. Absolute shite brand of football. A style that he's pretty much produced throughout his managerial career, the signs were there for all to see.
Safety first and foremost.

DNA = Do Not Attack

I did however decide to give him a chance, support the fact that he was willing to give it a go

2 year deal kinda looked like he was only employed to be a caretaker sort.

However, for me, take care

Goodbye.

Just think at this level with the level of expectation and the disruption of the summer he's out of his depth.

We don't have the luxury of time as a club to get back in the top four therefore managers don't have luxury of time either. Its a fast results business.

I love how people seem to be assuming NES is a caretaker. We have no concrete evidence this is the case beyond him being about 10th choice and on a 2 year contract which isn't an unusual length of contract for a new manager. SO based on there being no way of knowing if he's a caretaker, I'd want him sacked asap and us to install a manager we can all get behind. We are wasting potentially the last year of Kane's career and Son's best years with a patsy,

Just because the club made a mistake, you don't prolong the mistake which then becomes another mistake, you rectify it immediately.

If the plan is to wait for Poch, I think it shows how clueless Levy is. The last 18 months of Poch's reign were disastrous, and he failed to get us over the line in any competition despite being here for 5 years or so. Yes I'd take him over NES but I really would have hoped the club had a clear plan to progress the club forward which didn't involve Poch, but it seems that is too much to hope for.

We genuinely do seem to be run by clowns.

Can’t remember the last time we gave a 2 year contract to a new manager, can you?

I am surprised that so many of you seem to think Levy’s ‘plan’ was more than “let’s choose the cheapest candidate who wants the job and hope for the best”.

I think this is the main point. I believe Levy favours the DOF system. I think he put a lot of hope into Arnesen and Comolli. Redknapp and Poch didn't want one.

I believe Levy sees Paratici as the man who runs the football side and the head coach is of lesser importance. Nuno has a 2 year contract so we can quickly and cheaply move him on if he's not working out. If he is working out then he can get an extension.

This wy I believe someone who has shown he can coach good football to be our focus when hiring a new manager. Potter is number one choie for me. Parker could be an option.

Someone decent costs money. Levy opened his wallet the other day and a moth flew out gasping for air. The fiver he had in there was printed on goatskin in latin.

I watched a Brad Friedel interview and he said Levy took £800 out of his pay packet because he was swapping shirts at the end of the game in his last season as a pro.

Slightly off topic, apologies but absolutely sums Levy up.

Link: Twitter again! It was for BBC Five Live recently i think.

This is literally what we have, and despite the disproportionate vitriol on here every time we let a goal in, he’s doing a reasonable job.

Not a world beating job. Not an incredible job. Not a mind blowingly spectacular job.

But an adequate one, which has put us 6th in the league with a winnable run of games coming up.

Everyone on here would have taken that at the beginning of the season from a manager who is transparently only here for a year.

Every. Single. Person.

I think its the manner of how we have got to 6th.

I loved the City performance.
Wolves 1-0 win was daylight robbery
Watford 1-0 win wasnt pretty but job done
Villa 2-1 win was better but got over the line. Villa are in terrible form since going 3-5-2.
Newcastle 3-2 win was very good but again held on at the end and are the 19th worst team in the league.

Bar the City win and maybe Newcastle game, I havent been convinced by any of the other wins at all.

The 4 losses have been horrific. Could probably muster up a decent 30mins vs Chelsea and a decent 20/30mins vs West Ham.

In hindsight (a wonderful thing), we are actually 3-5 points better off than we maybe should be.

Yes would take gerrard as well. Parker I’m less sure about but they are all options.

Last summer’s management search has to go down in history as one of the clubs worst moments.
Chaotic, inept and embarrassing

Bizarre that a majority on here would have us doing it all again right now if it were down to them...

I think this summers manager search became a symbol for most of our footballing decisions since our summer with no signings.
It’s as if we don’t know what we are, or even what we want to be.

We all know Nuno is just a caretaker manager, the 2 year contract and the fact we can sack him for nothing if he doesn't get 6th this season all point to that.

My concern is with Newcastle and possibly utd looking for top calibre managers, what does levy do if poch or ETH are on the verge of being snapped up?

I really do get the feeling that nuno is keeping the seat warm for poch, but if Utd go in hard for Poch before the end of the season, heck even in the next few weeks, does levy bite the bullet early with nuno?

Why is everyone so sure that he is just keeping the seat warm until Poch comes back. Didnt he sign a new contract back in August to stick with PSG for another 3 years? Why would he do that if he was in on this Levy master plan?
