United are getting Conte. The top four will be a very, very long term project for us from now on in. Well done, Daniel- you’ve given us a Champions League stadium with Champions League ticket prices and probably the worst football in the last 20 years. Genius economics

Rome wasn't built in a day *smug patronising grin*

We beat United. Ole gets sacked as a result. United get Poch. Nailed on.

Fine by me.

Levy will then actually have to sit and think, rather than go "oh they liked that other bloke I sacked, let's get him back in".

I'm hoping that would lead to us going for Gerrard, Gallardo, Parker, or (and I can't believe I'm saying this) Potter.

Not that it matters because they won't go for Poch when they could go for Conte, Ten Hag, Zidane or Rodgers.

I love how people seem to be assuming NES is a caretaker. We have no concrete evidence this is the case beyond him being about 10th choice and on a 2 year contract which isn't an unusual length of contract for a new manager. SO based on there being no way of knowing if he's a caretaker, I'd want him sacked asap and us to install a manager we can all get behind. We are wasting potentially the last year of Kane's career and Son's best years with a patsy,

Just because the club made a mistake, you don't prolong the mistake which then becomes another mistake, you rectify it immediately.

If the plan is to wait for Poch, I think it shows how clueless Levy is. The last 18 months of Poch's reign were disastrous, and he failed to get us over the line in any competition despite being here for 5 years or so. Yes I'd take him over NES but I really would have hoped the club had a clear plan to progress the club forward which didn't involve Poch, but it seems that is too much to hope for.

We genuinely do seem to be run by clowns.
Completely agree mate but issue we have is who could we get if we sacked Nuno.

I’m torn if the plan is to bring Poch back as sometimes managers returning for a 2nd spell can work well a la Jose came back to Chelsea and won them the league straight away.

Poch has a very very special relationship with our club, he’s by no means perfect and doesn’t always get it right but when we did for us was absolutely phenomenal and if he’d been backed more then he would’ve won us a very big major trophy. Levy does seem to have these obsessions like he always wanted to hire Jose, he always wanted to bring Bale back and now his plan is to bring Poch back. Considering there too many other top managers out there we can seemingly attract or want then we could do a lot worse then giving Poch another go, that being said I don’t think you should plan for someone to come back as part of your strategy and we should’ve focused on getting in a manager who can build a good project themselves e.g. Potter, Ten Haag, Rogers etc.

As it is we seemed to have hired almost a caretaker who is a terrible fit. But none of this surprises me with Levy unfortunately.

Yep & now we’re stuck with Nuno ?

Well, I for one would rather be "stuck" with Nuno than with Ryan Mason throwing Winks into midfield every week.

But I'm not convinced we are "stuck" with him, and I don't expect him to be here come the summer.

I think it was a mutually-agreeable option for all parties, including Nuno.

Shambolic every way you look at it, the anger should be firmly placed at the hierarchy, for the position we find ourselves in.

They never seem to be under any REAL scrutiny though, when it comes to our fans protests / displeasure.

Fucking hell. Now that you've come over to the dark side would you like to come round for a Green Tea and be welcomed properly?

It is shambolic, but it's been shambolic since we sacked Jose with no succession plan because Levy didn't want to risk him winning a trophy and being owed more compensation.

Nuno has, in my view, been brought in to keep things ticking over for a year while we sound out a long-term successor or (if Levy has his way) lure Poch back.

He's a better candidate to do that than Ryan Mason, and if he can guide us into the top 6 at the end of the season then it puts him in good stead to secure himself a decent next job.

This would be my list too.

All are young, hungry, forward-thinking managers, who would be desperate to succeed.

I think the shambles goes back much farther than that.

You can trace it to poch saying painful rebuild , Levy ignored him and its snowballed from there.

I agree about nuno but I would say it is pretty urgent as this fanbase is becoming more and more fed up and its only a matter of time before it translates to the ground.

Whether it's poch, Potter or anyone else we need to act quicker

If no one else is available (and it certainly doesn't look like anyone is available who a) Is better than Nuno and b) would actually want to come here), then we're better to stick for now.

As I keep pointing out, we have sacked 2 managers in the space of 15 Premier League games. That would be seen as pretty extreme even if we were 17th. But we're not.

It's not just about our "brand" to the fans, it's about our "brand" as an employer for other managers.

Fans would be equally as fed up if we gave Nuno the boot, replaced him with Ryan Mason and subsequently went backwards. Which is exactly what would happen.

Supporter impatience is not, at this point, justification for changing manager every 3 months until we find one the fans like.

Yeah to be fair to you I remember you posting those articles although correct me if I’m wrong but it felt it was more you trying to convince yourself that he was an ok Manager rather than genuinely being excited about him coming in. Much like when you think of all the ways that a Wetherspoons steak is just as good value as a Gaucho’s prime cut.

Yeah you got me there! I was trying to convince myself at the time. Trying to put a brave face on things. Wolves we’re boring as fuck last season and that’s us now. It’s no fun at all.

View from the Lane is a good listen this week. It’s basically all the opinions in this thread put together but by other people. We’ll worth 30 mins of your commute/sitting in lounge doing work.
