Doesn't have the players to do what he wants = spend more money.

Yes I agree with you, but the reason for that is that Man City did not plan ahead for his arrival even though it was a 6 year process? The Club is the reason he has to now go and buy the players he needs, who can learn his philosophy and implement it on the pitch week in and week out. The squad is aging, again something out of Pep's control.

Poch had to do something similar with our squad when he arrived, however I doubt Pep will employ the same scouting tactics as we did to land Alli, Dier, Wimmer, Alder etc. It will seem like he is throwing money at the problem, and in reality he is. But that's not entirely his fault.

He made a big mistake in sending Hart out on loan and bringing in Bravo, Which in due time I feel he will have to acknowledge to his fans and to Hart, because I think Hart has the ability to learn his philosophy if given the chance.

But all in all I don't think he has done to shabby for his first season in the World's hardest league. Especially given the squad he has inherited unlike his previous clubs which needed minor tinkering, he now faces a total rebuild and that is something totally new to Pep.

Well Guillem has taken brown nosing to the extreme. Just seems like he is sticking up for his mate rather than actually analysing the situation.

Guillem is friends with most of the Spanish footballing heavyweight's. I don't think this article is biased at all.

It's fair judgement, there is criticism and praise.

Sorry there is not a single bit of criticism of Pep in that article. It lays the entire blame on the players and the club.

1: Players not doing what he wants
2: City to blame for not getting players in. The club has to take responsibility
3: The public are to blame for expecting too much

To say that is not biased is a nonsense.

Which part of the article criticised Pep? I didn't see any criticism, just blaming everyone but Pep. It was quite pathetic really.

It's EXACTLY what's going on in the situation though? It may come across as biased I agree, but it's not exactly a lie is it?

Even with all these "excuses' and after 5 losses, they are only 3 points off us.

No it's not EXACTLY what's going on because it completely absolves all blame. It really is just making excuses. What do you expect when you ask his mate who wrote his biography? His opinion is completely worthless.

Next up in this thread: Dan Ashcroft writes a considered and impartial review of AVB and Poyet's spell as manager/assistant manager of Spurs...

To say the club didn't prepare for pep is incorrect, didn't they hire the director of foootball from Barcelona the season Pep took a year off?

If he doesn't have the players he needs, he needs to play to the strengths of the players he has, because right now he looks like a one trick pony

He won his first ten games with the same set of players though. I don't see why he has to use the excuse of having old players now that his team has gone off the rails a bit.

Yes, he seemed happy enough to take the plaudits in October when the press had already handed him the league title and he was reveling in the praise.....

Putting the articles aside 3 points off us is still just 3 points mate.

Well he should be really, considering the players he has at his disposal and how good he is meant to be.

I agree with you, but the picking apart that has happened in this thread is completely unwarranted. Calling him overrated? Guys are acting like City are lying in 10th position. :ROFLMAO:

He has earned respect in the real footballing community as one of the best managers in the world. But it's stupid to expect the same respect from the fans, general public or media. It's instant success or he is a failure.

The media has twisted so many opinions on Pep since he arrived, based on their expectations of him and not his own. It's a joke honestly.

I don't think I have read anyone on here saying he is rubbish. He deserves credit for what he did at Barcelona but he also was quite privileged in that he had some of the best players in the world at the club and one of the best young academies in the world. Plus they could just buy anyone they needed to.

Well you're clearly a Pep fanboy and that's fine but I don't give a damn what he's done in some mickey mouse Spanish league, I'll judge him on what he does in a league with real competition here. At the moment he's failing considering the resources he has. I'm sure he'll go out, spend millions on a new team and eventually win the title and have everyone fawning over his tactical genius. Good for him.
