Exactly. We all love Spurs but if I was Spurs no.2 and Ashley offered me the Newcastle job, I would take it in a flash. Sacrilegious, I know. But realistically, who wouldn't?

Big Club, decent squad, and money available to enhance it. Added to that the huge pay rise, a chance to work with a good friend (wise), and the opportunity to work as a manager of a fairly prominent Premiership club.

Shearer...?

Gathering pace? It's one story in a notoriously unreliable paper.

The Guardian today say Poyet is "believed not to be keen on the job". But the Guardian has fewer readers - and, I'd suggest, a lower percentage of inveterate gamblers among its readership - so it doesn't have the same effect on the bookies' odds.

What did I tell ya? Nothing to worry about.

Good lad, Gus.

bit disappointed he didn't take the chance to distance himself from the vacant Dennis Wise as well, but you can't win them all.

We'd do well to play it calm, let a couple of weeks go by rather than jumping at him right on the back of this, and just in passing review his contract, reward his loyalty and let him know he's valued at the club.

With all due respect the comments don't say he's definately not interested in the job & wouldn't go if offered it. Just that its speculation and that he's happy at Spurs. I'm sure we've all heard comments like these before...

"It's very clear that it's nothing at all," stated Gus when asked about those rumours.
"I'm very happy here. I've had almost a year back at the club with Juande and Marcos. This is just speculation and it's all too easy because of my relationship with Dennis Wise. It's nothing to worry about and all I intend to do is relax and continue with my job."

Also that he's not stark raving bonkers.

Yup. Although according to the (essentially rumour-driven) Betfair market, Didier Deschamps is sufficiently loco to take the barcodes' coaching post.....

PS somewhat reassuringly, Gus' price is lengthening at quite a speed.

PPS King Kev is fourth favourite to get the job! :eek:mg:

I like Poyet although I have no idea what his contributions are. You would only know if you work in football, or if you are coached.

I would like him to stay. However from a neutral point of view, i think he would go.

1) Better pay
2) Great opportunity - big club, loyal fans, lots of money
3) Career progression - he would now be the manager of a club.

Get in!

Nice one Gus.

I would miss your post-match interviews which are a class apart.

Whenever life is getting me down I watch your face after the Ar5ena1 semi and and I'm back on top.
