Great that Gus is staying, but not sure if he is in line for the top job at Spurs. My understanding is that if Ramos loses the job then it will be temporarily given to a junior coach at from ManU for a year so that he can gain some premiership experience before returning to Sir Alex's staff.

Well for now what Gus brings to the game is innocence, in all the interviews I've seen he says it as is and I quite like that, also he seems to have his job in his heart where as most have their heart in the job, apart from progression (which is only natural) he really seems to enjoy his job and the people around him, and the interviews from the players seem to all say the same that he is very good at motivating them.

Its just a shame that he don't get enough credit from the fans I saw one person type "all he is, is just a translator and does what he is told by Ramos" well I for one don't agree with that and I'm very pleased that he is staying with us.

Get in!

Nice one Gus.

I would miss your post-match interviews which are a class apart.

Whenever life is getting me down I watch your face after the Ar5ena1 semi and and I'm back on top.

I'd rather have THE SHELF than some bloody soulless executive boxes.

Ok so the Poyet rumours leaving us never fully disappeared so I thought I'd just add to them a bit more!

With Steve Clarke seemingly on his way to West Ham I can see Chelsea making an approach for Gus now.

The very thought of it just makes me angry. Will we ever be able to keep hold of our assets and have a period of sustained consistency where we actually move forward?

this thought crossed my mind. i can remember reading the programme for teh chelsea game at the bridge last year a little piece on him, at the end it said something like "and we all wish to see Gus back at the bridge in some capacity in the future" even that pissed me off! I know its wishful thinking but if we had kept our best people together over the past 4/5 years we would be well on our way. Until we actually do break in to the elite (which i cant see us doing for a long time) then this is going to keep happening to us.

Wouldn't have thought so, Chelsea fans detest Poyet

I dont think this 'keeping hold of our assets' idea is that valid in a situation like this-if Poyet wants to go, then he has just proved himself to be another filthy, souless human being currently involved in football, and unfortunately he is merely a fraction of the majority as opposed to a large portion of the minority of humans that are employed by the beautiful game. If he wants to go, then we should get Michael Dawson to stick him on a golf tee, tell him to imagine that Poyet is a football and get him to boot him all the way to Stamford Bridge as to be honest, an assistant manager has never, is never, and never will be indispensible to any club and therefore we'd be better off without him, just like Chelsea would be better off without Steve Clarke now. Yes, he's been good for us, but if you said we were getting rid of one of our Spanish/latin trio, Poyet would be my first one out of the door without a shadow of a doubt.

Poyet leaving will just add to the long list of footballers/coaches who have chased the Yankee Dollar, as David Brent so aptly puts it, and no one could honestly say that they would be suprised if that is what happened.

Why do Chelsea fans hate Poyet? That's a new one to me.

And Adam, I think that's a bit harsh on Poyet. If you were offered a pay rise and the opportunity to work at the highest level would you not consider it? Even if we did end up with a Steve Clarke situation and he was tempted by a Chelsea offer i would still rather we said no and kept him just for the sake of continuity. How many members of the playing and coaching staff have we lost over the past 3 seasons due to better offers and how much has this affected our progress on the pitch? Too much is the answer I think.

It just hacks me off when we have something that is clearly working and then someone is tempted by a better offer and we end up back at square one. What's good is that it shows how much the club has changed and how much we have improved that now our players and staff are in demand from the top clubs.

For once I have sympathy for my West Ham mates who have seen their club develop plenty of top players only to see them disappear. It's frustrating and bloody annoying!

I agree with all of what you've said, apart from the fact that you've omitted a crucial detail-Poyet's public rubbishing of the rumour. If he goes to either Chelsea or Newcastle after saying that then he will surpass both Keane and Berbatov for general twat-ness and just prove that everyone in football is after the same thing-money

Who is Melsey? Never heard of her.

When I hear the phrase 'Don't shoot the messenger' I reach for my revolver.

not a clue who Melsey is, just passing it on.

We know the club have put out incorrect info to stop leaks, maybe the last of them?

Would the Barcodes be happy with Poyet as manager? go from a god (up there he is) to someone who hasn't even managed a club yet.

No disrepect to Poyet, i think he will be a fantasic manager, but its just that it hasn't happened yet

Melsey may be new to this ITK lark, but it's an impressive start: 100%, don't shoot the messenger, deal done, conveniently long timeframe before they're wrong by which time things will, inevitably, have 'changed'.

Bravo.

With Clarke going at Chelsea I can definately see Poyet working with Scolari. I'm biting my nails at the thought of it...
