I hope paratici has his say in this. Because if he gets 140-150m or 100-110m + Laporte to work with I think he can transform the club in similar fashion when Coutinho left Liverpool. With the rest of our outgoings it would be around 200m. That kind of money could make us in 1-2years time real contenders again.

Just dreaming now

And if we go full inception on villa when they get the Grealish money and they put 25m on Winks and 45m on Ndombelly

is it irrational though? if they force this through what stops them coming for Devine or Scarlett, or any of our players doing this to get a move.

It's the most rational thing in terms of protecting the club in the future.

I disagree, I don't think it's protecting the future of our club one bit by doing that.

So I firmly standby what I stated - Yes it very much is irrational.

If we take the original comment which suggests to 'just sell Kane for £100 million' next window. We're talking about a possible huge loss of what £50-80 million of what we could earn from such a transfer this year. (Approx £150-180million ++ according to speculation)

Furthermore, it's been an awful financial year with the effects of COVID. As a club it would be irresponsible to lose that huge amount of money either through not selling Kane or not playing him where he would undoubtedly contribute to the financial success of the team both on and off the pitch, generating significant money that way.

The ONLY rational options are to either sell him for top dollar, or he stays and plays.

You can't just waste that much money rotting on the bench. It could jeopardise the whole future of the club financially (o and also its credibility.

Why would any top stars want to sign here if when they would like to move on or further their careers at a different club we say 'Nah mate on the bench you go and train with the reserves for a year'. They'd think "Fuck that"!

I appreciate what you're saying, I feel it too. But don't cut your nose off to spite your face. It's a players league now I'm afraid and has been for a good while.

If Kane put out a reasonable, heartfelt, genuine statement that he wants to leave and why, and submitted a transfer request, I think most fans would accept it, albeit perhaps grudgingly. Honesty earns respect. Then it's down to City.

Trying to engineer a move by not turning up to training - if that's what he's trying here - is just pathetic. He's paid a fortune to do his job, which is mostly training.

Dragon 1 on COYS re “The Gentleman’s Agreement.”

He had a gentleman’s agreement last summer he could go if offer over 100 came and we were not in the cl

we rejected city’s bid of 100 a month ago and Harry has been sulking since

daniel will dig his heels in now no way will they force a move for 100 now

150-160 we may have a conversation but will be under our terms

expect Harry to be fined two weeks wages
I can't fathom Levy accepting something like 110m. That gentlemen's agreement, if true, was very vague. Purposefully so?

Have to laugh at all the posters who've had a melt down.....Harry Kane showing no loyalty... Harry disrespecting the fans. Same posters Eric Dier is the biggest prick, why is he still here....Harry Winks is not our level... needs to leave asap..etc etc.

Then when Harry decides we not at his level..... oh the uproar.....must say I've enjoyed the irony of how you as posters treat players under contract who you want GONE and in the same breathe cry foul when the same happens to the club by a player under contract.

All the best to Harry Kane and his future. Thank you for the memories is what I say... it's gonna suck and be painful seeing you play for another team. let's get the best possible price and move on.

If he was going abroad, absolutely. But he is trying to force a move to Manchester City. Man City!! They'd still be in League 1 if it wasn't for Thaksin Shinawatshisname and the corrupt Arabs! Joke of a football club.

Painful to witness this. Any other Spurs player I could handle but our and England's captain, top Premier league goalscorer and the boy we made great. It's a little heartbreaking.

What are the odds that City announce the signing of Erling Haaland this week?
Thats what I don't understand about this. If they don't want to match valuation this summer... why would you buy Kane over Haaland next summer?

If he is sulking and refusing to come into train then that's not exactly the type of behaviour one expects from an international captain, so he needs to have a word with himself.

You explained it slightly better than I have in the past - i mentioned how can we expect loyalty when we dont give that loyalty back... the same players want Winks gone, players who are spurs through and through and want tto drive them there themselves... Essentially we are loyal to players who are good and not loyal to players who arent so good... by in Kanes eyes, he was loyal when we were good and not so loyal when we are shit - thats why im not so fussed if he wants to go - just get the fucking cash in asap to reinvest and strengthen and draw a line under all this.

I think that is a fan thing

How does this realistically end now? Do we even want him to stay considering the huge black cloud that will follow him for the next season?

Most fans seem completely done with him. He's insulted the club, the board, our new DoF, his team mates and our new management team. How the fuck does he even come back to training after this and expect to anyone to show him the least bit of sympathy?

He's fucked us no matter what.

And he might have fucked himself aswell, if City wont pay up the money Levy wants. Then he have to stay at Spurs...where he has lost all respect and love. He also sets a really bad example being England captain.

The club or Harry could easily have corrected the media if it was not correct that he was scheduled to report back today.
But he hasnt. He hasnt said a damn thing about spurs since that interview with the valencia-flop.

On the flip-side we'd be acquiring a player we desperately need. I'd definitely take him in part of a deal, but I can't see him wanting to come to us.
As taking him would reduce the fee City pays us, it directly helps to fund their purchase of Kane with a player they want to offload anyway. On that basis, we should consider Laporte to be worth less to us than his market value. Therefore, City's reported £100m offer is still tens of millions short of Kane's valuation even with Laporte thrown in.

Amongst all of this I'd like us to subtly state that Hojbjerg will be our new vice captain from next season, whether Kane stays or goes.

If Kane stays I don't want him anywhere near the armband.

I dont even need an apology or a transfer request. Turn up to training, act like the professional you always claimed to be and see what happens. Right now its clear he is in cahoots with City, and he just keeps digging. I swear if he swears on his daughters life that he had an agreement I will be one with him. :cautious:

What the fuck even is a gentleman’s agreement when you’re half way through a contract you voluntarily sign on 200k + a week.

Ridiculous ?

Why would you believe that you had an agreement in those circumstances...

Shocked at Kane’s behaviour (if true).

He is the last player I would expect to (supposedly) do this.

This club has given him the platform for his current footballing status and all of his achievements so far. Golden boots, england captaincy, World Cup golden boots etc

The level of disrespect on his part if this is true is discraceful and he should be ashamed.

This just makes me think what is the point in following football anymore. A player you develop and help grow can practically stab you in the back whilst under contract. There is no loyalty in this game and us Spurs fans see and suffer It more than others.

We all know the outcome and we are bigger than any 1 player.
I have faith Levy will do what is best for the club

If its true, everything he has built in the last 15 years has been undone. What happened to showing class and loyalty. He's not bigger than the club and the club will live on when Harry Kane has gone.

Loyalty certainly does work both ways, but a club shouldn't be expected to show loyalty to a player by selling them for £50-100m below their market value. To do so would be disloyal of the club to its fans, its board, its shareholders, its coaching & management staff and the rest of its playing squad.
That's why the saying "no player is bigger than the club" exists!
