Poch wanted Sissoko

He also bought Toby, Wanyama, and Alli. Not every player carries form straight over to a new club.

If we had seen the Sissoko of the Euros or the one that played really well every time he played against us for Newcastle, no one would be moaning. The difference is he was a guaranteed starter for both, but found it difficult to be a squad player something he isn't used to.

If he, N'koudu, Janssen have a full preseason with us due to not being sold, then the real time to rate them will be December time. We lost a total 9 games last in all comps, and in those 9 I think each player only started in 1 game, when they where used to playing week in week out before they joined. Being a squad player is so much harder than those that start every week bar being injured.

I don't see the appeal in this player, what am I missing?

Odds on faves to sign him atm (insert suitable smiley here).

Gibson and Keane perhaps ahead of him, from the break through CBs this season, for me.

Gibson is appealing due to being left-footed, but that aside I'd rather Maguire for his physical stature. I'd also rather Maguire than Keane too - I don't think Keane would do well in a back three unless in the central 'linchpin' position, which is Toby's. Maguire would be much more able to plug in in any of the three slots and is better on the ball playing out (albeit Gibson is probably even better) - which is particularly important because of the way we play out from goal kicks.
Maguire > Gibson > Keane for me in terms of fit for Spurs.
Maguire and Sessegnon in, and Wimmer out, would work nicely for out defensive cover.
Would be perfectly happy sticking with Wimmer tho so we're in a good position.

£22m???? That is a massive amount of money for a player with no international or European competition experience from a team that got relegated.

I can see the reasoning for going for someone like him (can dribble and good at aerial clearances plus can cover Alderweireld while Wimmer covers Vertonghen) and if it was sub £10m (or even better similar price to Trippier) I think it would be fine but at £22m seems very high.

I really don't want him. I just think he'd be exposed in the high line and I think his "treks" forward into attack have been vastly overstated.

Personally, I'd prefer Willi Orban from RB Leipzig. Good all around defender, fits the high line and while he's right footed, that really doesn't bother me that much when they are actually a gifted defender.

Must have watched hull x10 live last season plus at the lane .never saw him have a bad game .most of the time was a stand out player and his bursts forward could give us a new dimension .not a patch on Toby/Jan but defo upgrade on wimmer and imo would be great in a 3 with licence to roam forward could be a revelation
