#thfc Redknapp: 'Adebayor has a little bit of a hamstring problem so we're waiting to see how he is'. Lennon also out with hamstring.

#thfc Redknapp: 'The priority is getting to the cup final and getting that Champions League place. That's where we are now'

#thfc Redknapp on recent form: 'We haven't had the results but I've got no problem with the performances'.

thfc Redknapp: 'We've had tough games. If they (the three league defeats) had been spread out over the season no-one would have noticed'.

#thfc Redknapp: 'If you look back over the last 10 years we would probably have averaged (a total of) 2 points from those games'.

#thfc Redknapp: 'Since I've been in football, I've probably never had a team that had as much of the game vs Man United as we did that day'

#thfc Redknapp: 'If we finish in the top four I think we've over-punched our weight - way over - but I think we will finish in the top four'

The last comment annoys me - Harry bigging himself up again to the detriment of the Club

Fair enough, not a single pundit had us down to finish in the top 5, let alone top 4.

Why shouldn't he take the credit?

The club is due to resources and our constraints, but the team isn't - we should be challenging top 3/4 with this squad of players, no doubt.

isnt that because when they were making their picks we all thought Modric would leave and that we wouldnt sign Parker or Ade?
IMO we should be there or there abouts (around cL places) with the squad we have, so its not all down to Harry.

Our best X1 is stronger than Chelsea and Arsenal, so finishing being these two would be a failure not an achievement of such mass magnitude Redknapp is eluding too.

This.

Still...just what the players need to hear when they need a confidence boost isn't it.

Stupid last comment on his part. He always seems to be a bit desperate for recognition. With our squad we should be above Arsenal and Chelsea (especially with our first XI).

TBH if he doesn't get us into the top 4 with this squad then that's two years of underachievement in my books.

I think it's a reflection of how well we've done that fans think that we're not overchieving.

Maybe I won't ever be able to shake growing up in the 1990s.

I'm genuinely so thankful for 40 points every season, that anything else is still a bonus!

We've really never had it so good. Especially in the last 20 years. That's why I get annoyed with fans at the moment, with the sense of entitlement that's built up from absolutely fucking nowhere.

We are overachieving in my eyes. Not one of you expected us to have a run like this when the transfer window slammed shut. How is that not overachieving?

This. Fifth would be a massive underachievement with this squad (not challenging harder for fourth last season was a big underachievment as well imo). The only reason I wasn't anticipating us managing a third place finish when the season started was because I felt that Harry wasn't necessarily a good enough manager to pull it off. Nothing to do with the quality of the squad, of which I think is far and way the third best in the league on paper. Arguably second even.

Agreed.

I went to watch us play Sheffield Wedensday under Gross (1998).

It was at the Lane. We lost 3 - 0. Ramon Vega had to be taken off at half time. The crowd sang, 'We want Sugar out....'

Paolo Di Canio went on record as saying that Sheffield Wednesday were poor, so to lose 3 - 0 at home to them meant we must have been really, really bad.

I remember losing 4 - 0 away to Coventry and 1 - 6 to Chelsea in successive weeks!

Are you saying we're overachieving simply because we used to be shit?

At the moment, our first 11 is stronger than Arsenal's and debatably stronger than Chelsea's, put them side by side and tell me how many of the other two's first 11's you'd take in preference to ours.

Just because we suffered a long time with bad squads doesn't mean we shouldn't expect a certain level of achievement when we have a good one and I maintain that two years without champions league football with the squad of players we have wouldn't be an overachievement.

Normally I would be with you on this, disliking the sense of entitlement and being from the same generation of failing Spurs sides.

But that last comment from Harry is ridiculous. We were written off six months ago because at the time we hadn't signed Adebayor and Parker, and everyone and his dog thought that Modric would be off.

It's true to say we have the 3/4 best squad in the league, and the table doesn't lie - I hate this Harry thing of constantly claiming we've over-achieved when we clearly haven't. He did it last season when we began to slip away and he's starting it again, which is very worrying. Last season he had a point when it came to our progress in the CL, but this season he really hasn't got a leg to stand on. Arsenal are far weaker than they were last year and we should be expecting to finish above them.

Isn't the 'punching above our weight bit', 'bigging up' the players as much as Harry?

I agree with some of your comments, but I don't think we are over achieving, we have built an extremely strong and talented squad who should be able to challenge for top 4.

I too get annoyed by people who think we are entitled to do something, every point has to be earned and until the last couple of weeks we were doing OK. I hate all the over optimism that has surrounded us this season. I have been supporting this Club for almost 50 years so forgive me for being a realist.

I also breathe a sigh of relief when we reach 40 points.

I remember last year Harry said how he won't lose any sleep if we don't finish fourth. At the time I tought it was very st... not very smart thing to say. One more loss and I expect something very similar from him this year. Who we are to finish above Chelesa, Arsenal and Liverpool blah, blah, they have money blah, blah, they have big stadiums blah, blah...
