Holtby he going to be a gem of a player I think, great attitude, work ethic, and lots of skill.

When Holtby is back and fully fit, it won't even be close. This is going to be a big year for him as long as he's played in the right position. No disrespect to Siggy either, he looked good at the end of last season and I think he can still improve.

I love when people write off a 22 year old and 23 year old.
Yep. Holtby still has a big future with us. I'm sure of it. I'm crossing my digits for Gylfi but am rather pessimistic right now tbh if there's truth to us looking to bring in another attacking midfielder.

Apart from shooting and finishing, Holtby is superior in almost every other aspect. He is a lot better at passing, has greater stamina and energy, is more versatile and has more potential given that he's only been in England since January and Gylfi has played at Swansea as well. I do like Gylfi but since AVB prefers a 4-3-3 formation I do not see Gylfi playing much this season and Holtby's creativity is clearly missed in the games so far

With Sig, I don't see where his potential is? What is he good at? He's played a number of roles and maybe he needs an extended run of game but I can't see it. Not writing him off but I think we're in a position these days that you have to be on top form to be in the team. Take Townsend, most on here like myself have wanted to see him play more as we could see something with the lad, Sig I don't see it. I presume AVB see's more what he offers in training?

Really like Holtby. I feel about him much the way I did about Sandro when I saw him the first few times. He has a great attitude and willingness to learn and no shortage of quality.

If he was playing for another team abroad we would be having a wankfest over him and talking about £10-15 million imo.

Little bit off topic, but once Holtby is back, if we play Lloris, Walker, Vertonghen, Dawson, Rose, Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Lamela, Townsend, Soldado we will have more left footers than right. Actually would outnumber them 7 to 4.

Pretty bizarre, no? Can't think of any other team where that's happened.

I dont understand the negativity for Holtby, looking at him for Germany U21s and what he did for Schalke, I can see him being our answer to the creativity people are asking for. He hasnt got the flair of a Willian/Eriksen but the boys got bags full of talent. We saw glimpses of it, I really hope this year we see how good he really is. I for one was buzzing when we signed him ahead of the plenty of other options he had. Freund backs him, I reckon he will shine.

Gylfi is a good player, deserving of a place in the squad but I cant call him sensational.

Completely agree, I think he should be our long term plan for a number 10 role. Bags of potential, just like we were saying about Gareth Bale a couple of years ago.

Put some faith in him and he will shine.

Holtby, he just needs time and we will see the best of him. Unlike Sig he looks like he knows what he's going to do with the ball before it arrives and also has an eye for a creative pass.

He was fantastic for schalke and one of germanys best players at the u21 euros.

To write him off already is silly IMO especially if he can form an understanding with soldado.

I see your 7 left footers, and raise you 9!

Lloris
Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Rose
Holtby Carroll Dembele
Lamela Bale Townsend

Fuck it, stick Fryers in for Daws and Benny in for Walker and you've got a whole team!
